I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - Sunday in the Park With George

We were given tickets to Sunday in the Park With George for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Sunday in the Park With George

Where: Axelrod Performing Arts Center
             100 Grant Ave.
              Deal, NJ

Who: Recommended for Ages 13 and Up

When: Through March 24, 2024

Sunday in the Park With George is Stephen Sondheim's musical that imagines the life of George Seruat and his painting of Afternoon on the Island of the Grand Jatte. The show contains several of his most well-known songs including Putting It Together and Move On. Although the show is quite popular, it is not Sondheim's best work. There are quite a lot of characters, and it is hard to keep track of them all especially when the actors all play completely different characters in the first and second acts.

This version of the show is still worth seeing for the performances. The cast led by Graham Phillips in the role of George and Talia Suskauer in the role of Dot/Marie is first-rate. Suskauer in particular really gets the opportunity to show her range as she plays a 98-year-old grandmother in the second act.

Although the show is not really known as a dance musical, dancing has been added to this production. It doesn't really seem to add anything to the show, however. Still, the dancers are talented, and it is fun to see them show off their skills. Over all, this is definitely a show to see for the performances.
