Me - Speakeasy, Die Softly was fun. Even though I don't normally like to be part of a group, this show made it easy. I enjoyed working with my tablemates to try and solve the mystery. I also liked talking to the characters. The food was good too, but a little cold. I would highly recommend this entertaining show.
Mom - Speakeasy, Die Softly is an entertaining interactive murder mystery set in the 1920s. You work with your tablemates to solve the mystery and earn prizes. While the prizes are not very exciting, the experience is still a joy.
You don't need a minimum number of people to participate. Small parties sit at tables together while larger parties have their own tables. Even if you don't normally interact with people you don't know, it is surprisingly simple and less stressful than you might think to get swept up in interacting with strangers when joining together to solve a fun mystery.
You also get to interact with and interrogate the actors (the suspects). They are extremely friendly and very good at not breaking character or getting flustered no matter what you ask, but it must be related to the mystery, of course, and they can not tell you who did it. You may even get to play a suspect yourself, although this is strictly voluntary; you don't need to worry about being picked to play one. Suspects don't have any more information than the average guest except what they are told about their characters, which they are only allowed to share with their table. You may even turn out to be the murderer.
We are forbidden to say anything specific about the mystery or the characters. You'll have to go see it for yourself to find out more. While most people will find the story and characters interesting, some may find the mystery's solution less than satisfying. However, even that can't take away the enjoyment of participating in the experience.
The evening includes a full three-course meal. A salad and three different main courses are served family style while the desserts are individual. There is no ordering off a menu. Everyone is served the same things. The food is tasty, although the main courses could be warmer.
All in all it's a delicious and delightful evening of food and fun!
Tune in Sunday for this week's Sunday Scoop.
