Our Sinatra is a review of songs made famous by the legendary performer. Yet, some of his most popular songs aren't in the show, or they are crammed into an intensely packed medley near the end that moves so quickly from one song to another that it is hard to keep track of what is being sung. The show does, however, include some of his best-loved songs like "One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)" and two versions of "New York, New York" (one from the musical On the Town and one from the Liza Minelli/Robert De Niro movie). The latter song has become the unofficial anthem of New York City, particularly Sinatra's version. The show also includes several lesser-known songs from Sinatra's repertoire.
The three-member cast consists of Erick Comstock, who is also the musical director; Christopher Gines; & Hilary Kole. The two men are reminiscent of Sinatra in that they are more crooners than singers. Their voices aren't beautiful, but they can get a song across. Hilary has the nicest voice of the trio. Her skillful scatting is a highlight.
With very little movement or choreography, the show is more like a cabaret than a revue. If you are looking for more than a trio of performers mostly standing (or sitting) around on a stage and singing, you might not enjoy it, but if you're mostly interested in the music itself, you may find it more enjoyable.
