I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - Five, The Parody Musical

We were given complimentary tickets to Five the Parody musical for review purposes. Any and all opinions here are our own.

What: Five the Parody musical

Where: Theater 555
             555 W. 42nd St.
             New York, NY

Who: Recommended for Ages 16 and Up

When: Through April 21, 2024

Five is an amusing parody of the musical Six wherein instead of being the wives of Henry VIII, the women are the wives, the daughter, and the alleged one-time paramour of Donald Trump specifically his ex-wives Ivana and Marla; his current wife, Melania; his daughter, Ivanka; and Stormy Daniels plus a surprise guest appearance. The show not only parodies the aforementioned Six but manages to sneak in parodies of other musicals as well, particularly in the songs which include Un-Popular, Don Dump Tango, and Kiss Me Daddy One More Time.

Some things do not entirely make sense without a little background information that is not provided in the show, for instance, Melania's song about her love for potatoes only makes sense if you know that Melania is from Slovenia and that they are known for their love of potatoes. The show also may be triggering for some people who would prefer to forget that Donald Trump ever existed and live in fear that he will ever hold public office particularly that of the President again. However, for the most part, the evening is a fun frolic. The cast really plays it up and has a good time, so the audience can't help but have a good time as well.

And that's our view. For more about Five, The Parody Musical or to purchase tickets, visit fivethemusical.com.
