I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: Dearest New York A Love Letter to the Big Apple & Misc.: spinningrock 100 Musicals Every Theatre Nerd Should See - Musical Theatre Scratch Off Poster

We may have been given complimentary copies and/or access for review purposes to any books, products, and/or any other visual or audio media mentioned below. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: Dearest New York A Love Letter to the Big Apple

Today we are recommending Dearest New York A Love Letter to the Big Apple by Dierdre Gartner. In this informative book, Ms Gartner effusively shares her love for her hometown, New York City, with the reader. The book mainly covers the borough of Manhattan although the Brooklyn Bridge and the Staten Island Ferry are both mentioned as well.

The book is divided into sections each of which is devoted to a specific area of Manhattan. Extensive information is provided regarding each including the nickname of that area, what the boundaries are, and what the area is most well known for. Suggested places to go in each area are provided as well. They include restaurants, stores, and more.

There are also lists of specific things throughout the book, such as, independent bookstores, parks, etc. These lists are not confined to one area but include locations all around the borough of Manhattan. There are plenty of gorgeous full-color photographs throughout the book as well.

If you are planning a trip to Manhattan this is definitely not the only guide you will need. Despite the abundance of information provided here, there is still a lot more to Manhattan than this. However, the book is a worthy addition to any books you are using to plan your trip, and it's also just fun to read even if you aren't planning a trip to New York any time soon.
