I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Book of Beginnings & Things to Do While You Poo on the Loo & Movies: Shelter in Solitude

We may have been given complimentary copies and/or access for review purposes to any books, products, and/or any other visual or audio media mentioned below. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: The Book of Beginnings & Things to Do While You Poo on the Loo

Today we are recommending The Book of Beginnings by Sally Page. After she is dumped by her boyfriend, Jo goes to manage her uncle's stationery shop. She meets Ruth, a vicor who has mysteriously run away from her flock, and Malcolm, a septuagenarian trying to write a book. The three form a bond that changes all their lives.

This is a book about friendship and people coming into each other's lives exactly when they are needed. The story is interesting and unique, and it holds your interest throughout.  It is full of kind, caring, extremely likable characters. There is a hint of romance, but not enough to satisfy the most ardent romance fans. However, if that doesn't bother you, it is still quite a lovely satisfying story.

Today we are recommending Things to Do While You Poo on the Loo by Alex Smart. This is a fun book meant to leaf through while you are in the bathroom. It is full of fun trivia, word searches, puzzles, and more related to the bathroom and bathroom-related activities. Some of it can be a bit vulgar, but if you can get past that it can be quite entertaining and a fun way to pass the time when you're stuck in the lavatory.

Movies: Shelter in Solitude

Today we are recommending Shelter in Solitude. This is a poignant film about a wannabe singer who forms a bond with a death-row prisoner during COVID-19. The story moves along slowly at first but then really draws you and becomes quite intense, and extremely heartbreaking. You're going to want to bring the tissues for this one.

Shelter in Solitude is available in select theaters now and will be available on Amazon later this Fall. For more about this film, visit shelterinsolitude.com.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
