Me - The Fab 4 NYC Walking Tour was fun. I didn't know much about the Beatles before, but I learned a lot on the tour. Even though we had previously visited a lot of the places we went to on the tour before, I never really realized their connection to the Beatles.
One of the most interesting places we visited was Strawberry Fields. When I was there before, I never really noticed the plaque that told who donated to make Strawberry Fields. Another thing I learned on the tour was that the Dakota was named after the Native American statute head by the top. I never noticed that before. There are a lot of other rumors about where the name came from but they are not true
Our tour guide showed us a lot of pictures as we went around on our tour. They really helped to set the scene and bring what she was telling us to life. It was all very interesting.
Our tour guide was really nice. I enjoyed walking with her and talking to her. Even though I am not a big Beatles fan, I still really enjoyed the Fab 4 NYC Walking Tour.
Mom - If you are a big Beatles fan or even if you are a casual fan, or you are just interested in learning more about the Beatles, you may enjoy a Fab 4 NYC Walking Tour. Susan, the tour guide, has been a die-hard Beatles fan since her teenage years, and she is extremely knowledgeable about her subject. She is also extremely personable and a pleasure to walk around with and talk with.
The tour is quite thorough. It covers everything about the Beatles in New York starting back from their first visit to the City all the way through John's tragic death. Along the way, you will get to learn more details about people and events you may be familiar with and you may learn about some people and events you never heard of before as well. You will visit Radio City Music Hall, the Warwick Hotel, Strawberry Fields, and more. You do not actually enter any of these venues, however, so you should be prepared for a lot of standing outside. If you can't stand or walk around for a long time, this is not the tour for you. You will also want to dress appropriately for the expected weather because you will be outside for a long time although if there is a major weather event like a blizzard or a thunderstorm, the tour will be postponed.
It might seem like just walking around and looking at buildings and listening to someone talk would be boring. However, there is more to this tour than that. Aside from the fact that the information Susan has to share about the Beatles is quite fascinating, she has also a binder full of pictures to share which greatly enhances the tour and makes it so much more interesting. There are pictures of the Beatles with Ed Sullivan, pictures of them playing at Carnegie Hall, pictures of Paul McCartney on Saturday Night Live, pictures of John Lennon and Yoko Ono and so much more. There are even a few personal pictures from Susan's own collection. You will truly leave this tour feeling like you know everything there is to know about the intersection of the Beatles and New York City.
