I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Mary Gets Hers by Emma Horowitz is based on the work of Hrotsivitha of Gandersheim, a woman who wrote religious drama and poetry during the Middle Ages. If just reading that sentence practically puts you to sleep and makes you think the show sounds incredibly boring, that is definitely not the case. The show is actually incredibly funny. The characters are rather earnestly written and earnestly portrayed as well by the talented cast, but that is what makes it all so funny. Their behavior, attitudes, and beliefs are so different from our modern sensibilities.

The show is especially timely because it takes place during a plague in Germany although it was written prior to our recent pandemic. The story is about a pair of hermits who find a young girl whose parents have both died. They want to save her not just literally but spiritually as well. Haley Wong particularly shines as young Mary, who ages from a young child to an old woman over the course of the show. She is especially good as the young Mary. Not for one minute do you not believe that she is a young child. All in all, it is a surprisingly amusing and rather enjoyable show.
