Monthly Mashup for September, 2020 Socks and Election Day
Me - My topic for this month is socks. I love socks. I have mostly ankle socks and some fuzzy socks. Most of them have designs on them. I hardly ever have socks that are solid because I get them in a big pack of different socks that usually come with designs on them. I used to have kangaroo, llama, and koala socks. The koala socks were really pretty. They were purple with grey koalas. I also had socks that were periwinkle with a sparkly gold stripe. They were really pretty too, and I really liked them.
I do like other kinds of socks like knee-high socks, but I haven't had a lot of those. I did have one pair of knee-highs. I got them for a Halloween costume one year. I was Katie from the musical School of Rock. Those socks were kind tight though so I only wore them for Halloween.
In general, the problem is that even if socks are not too tight, to begin with, they don't last very long anyway. They are always ripping. It probably doesn't help that I am always walking around the house in my socks with no shoes on. I don't like walking around on the floor with no socks, but I don't like wearing my shoes all the time either. Another problem with socks is that they get so dirty that sometimes they can never really get clean anymore. Also, they mysteriously disappear. Even though I try not to wear socks that don't match, sometimes I have to. I love socks, but they can be so annoying!
Mom - My topic for this month is Election Day. Here were are less than two months away from Election Day, and I have never been so excited and yet anxious to vote in my life. During election time, people are very divided to begin with and all those negative ads don't help. I always appreciate a politician like Kristen Gillibrand whose commercials only talked about what she can do and never put down her opponent. I wanted to vote for her, and I didn't even live in her state.
This year the divisiveness has ratcheted up about a thousand notches. I don't remember a time when our country was divided as much as we are now. That is what makes this election so important. We are literally fighting for the future of our country, and the kind of country we want it to be. That's why now more than ever nobody should be sitting on the sidelines and not voting because they think their vote doesn't matter. It does! So whether you are voting by mail or you are actually going to the polls on election day, just make sure you vote. It has never mattered more than it does right now!
And that's our view. What's on your mind?
Tune in tomorrow for Tips for Tuesday.

The club’s launch marks the release of an exclusive wine from Crocker & Starr, called “Ghostlight”. I want us all to drink a toast to the ghostlights burning, and to remember that when this wine is all drunk, the show will go on.
Following “Ghostlight,” every shipment will include a special collectible bottle of premier wine designed by a Broadway luminary, grouped with customer favorites from the club’s select roster of partner wineries whom have earned coveted spots on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 lists, and are consistently awarded ratings over 90 points from Wine Enthusiast, Robert Parker, and other esteemed critics. Followed By
“Commercial Break” by Peter Stone
&
“Come On” by Susan Charlotte
Featuring Jodie Markell Stephen Schnetzer and Rex Reed
September 29th at 2:00pm at Theatre 80 St. Marks
And Via Live Streaming
On September 29th at 2:00pm, the award-winning theatre company, Food For Thought Productions will present the third show in its current season with a common thread – comedy (something we can all use a bit of in our present world)! Tony Nominee, Tony Roberts will kick off the show by reading from his very personal, very funny autobiography, “Do You Know Me”? This piece will be followed by two one-acts, “Commercial Break” by Oscar, Tony and Emmy Award winner Peter Stone (a frequent FFTP contributor and attendee). And bringing the comedic afternoon to a close will be “Come On” by award-winning playwright, and Food For Thought founder, Susan Charlotte. The show stars the incomparable Rex Reed, Jodie Markel and Emmy Nominee Stephen Schnetzer and is directed by Antony Marsellis. Q & A will include a discussion with the cast on the many facets of comedy, led by Susan Charlotte.
The performance will be available live via Zoom. The entire FFT series will be presented at Theatre 80 St. Marks. Tickets for the ‘live’ performance are free to first-come patrons. All social distancing precautions will be respected. There will be a medical professional onsite to check temperatures and audience members must wear masks and have recently tested negative for Covid-19. There will be a nominal charge for the streaming. For additional information and tickets please contact FFTP at: 646-366-9340 or email: info@
By the way, a few fun tidbits: “Commercial Break” aired on television with Lauren Bacall and Robert Preston but was originally written as a monologue for Audrey Hepburn in “Charade.” When it was cut, Stone adapted it for Cary Grant in “Father Goose,” which, again, did not make the final film. He finally expanded upon the monologue and wrote “Commercial Break.” Lauren Bacall performed the monologue at FFTP’s tribute for Peter Stone. And, we are pleased to have Tony Roberts join us as he is currently in the midst of reading for audio, “Hush Hush,” the 56th book in the NYT Bestselling Stone Barrington series by Stuart Woods.
Additional dates for the rest of the season, all preformed at Theatre 80 St. Marks, which will include plays by Tennessee Williams, Mel Brooks, Dorothy Parker, Neil LaBute to name a few are Oct. 19th, Nov. 16th and December 14th. All shows are from 2—4pm which includes a Q & A with the cast. All shows will be live streamed, and all cast & plays subject to change.
For additional information and tickets please contact FFTP at: 646-366-9340 or email: info@

Takei has written a New York Times best-selling graphic novel, They Called Us Enemy, a stunning memoir recounting his childhood imprisoned within an American concentration camp during World War II.
Hiking The Divide To Unite will be a 10-part series documentary capturing e2e Treks’ almost 1,000-mile extreme hike down the Continental Divide Trail which began in August 2020 and will complete in October 2020. On the trail, the group will document the natural beauty while focusing on the Native people, communities, and rich history represented by the areas through which they will travel. By relaying these stories, e2e Treks hopes to provide a platform of positive inspiration for all creatives in the arts during this “pandemic shutdown”. The team will be hiking near Heart Mountain Internment Camp, part of the historical inspiration for Allegiance, when the event is live on September 28.
