I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Still More Theater Saturday - Resounding Presents Dracula A Live Immersive Radio Show

What: Dracula

Where: Resounding Live

Who: Tweens and Up

When: Through October 31, 2020

Resounding is a new live immersive theater company. Dracula, which will be presented one final time tonight at 8:00 PM, is their first production. Even if you are not particularly a fan of Dracula, you are definitely going to want to experience this exciting new technology. Even though you are not even seeing a picture as the show is strictly a radio play, you will feel like you are right in the room as it is happening. The sound and effects are incredible. It is hard to believe that even the performers are not in the room with each other as the play is going on. Except for a tiny glitch or two when the air went dead for a second or two, yesterday's initial performance went seamlessly. The only downside is that this is not one of those shows that you can watch at your leisure even for a limited period of time. Resounding shows are presented live only so if you don't catch them when they are live, you don't get to experience  them at all. However, that only serves to make them feel even more special.

And that's our view. The next Resounding show will be Treasure Island which will be presented in November. For more information about that or to purchase a ticket to tonight's performance of Dracula, visit  Resounding. We will also be covering more Resounding shows in future blog posts.

Tune in tomorrow for this week's Sunday Scoop.

Theater Thursday - Political Idol 2020

What: Political Idol 2020

Where: www.politicalidollive.com

Who: Teens and Up

When: Through November 3, 2020

Political Idol 2020 is a spoof of the presidential election in the format of a singing competition. Although the impersonations over all are not that great definitely not of the caliber of a show like Saturday Night Live, the songs are clever and the singing voices are nice. Besides, where else would you get to hear such gems as It's A Diversion (sung to the tune of Like a Virgin), Butch and Brainy Buttigeg (sung to the tune of Boogie, Woogie Bugle Boy), Seasons of Trump (sung to the tune of Seasons of Love), Everyone Goes (sung to the tune of Anything Goes) and more? The songs chosen to parody are a nice mix of pop songs and show tunes. However, even if you are unfamiliar with a song or two or not a fan of one or both of these genres of music, the parodies are still enjoyable and relatable. Even though both parties are represented here, the show definitely skews toward the Democratic side so if you lean toward the Republican side of the spectrum, you may not enjoy it as much. However, if that doesn't bother you and/or you are a Democrat, you might want to take this last opportunity to enjoy the lighter side of things before things really get heated and crazy on Election Day.

And that's our view.Tickets to Political Idol 2020 are $20.20. For more information or to purchase a ticket, visit www.politicalidollive.com.

Don't forget to vote if you haven't already! It matters!

Tune in Saturday for Still More Theater Saturday.

Where-To-Go Wednesday - Skylands Stadium Jack O'Lantern Experience

What: Skylands Stadium Jack O'Lantern Experience

Where: 94 Championship Place
             Augusta, NJ

Who: All ages

When: Through November 1, 2020

If you are looking for something fun to do this Halloween season and you are wary of going to one of those crowded fall festivals, the Skylands Stadium Jack O'Lantern Experience is a great alternative. The entire display is a drive-thru event so you don't even have to get out of your car.

It consists of several different themed sections made up of a mix of jack o' lantern figures, painted pumpkins, and elaborately carved pumpkins. They include a section of wild animals carved from pumpkins, a section of ghoul and ghost jack o' lanterns, a section of carvings of famous couples, and much more. There is even a section inside the stadium which includes pumpkins figures in the stands and in the skyboxes, painted pumpkin figures in the dugouts, and more. Even this section is drive-thru only as cars are led in a path around the stadium.

The entire experience is full of bright lights, bold colors, and loud music so if you are looking for a quiet little exhibit, this is probably not for you. However, it is definitely worth seeing. Visually it's quite an array, and the level of skill on display particularly in the creation of the carved pumpkins is awesome!   Just beware in order to accommodate the crowds, cars are ushered through the exhibit at a somewhat rapid pace so you may not get to spend as much time as you might like. All in all though, it is an exciting and engrossing exhibit and definitely a great fun way to celebrate the season.

And that's our view. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit

Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.

Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Film Buff's Bucket List & Games: Hit List

We may have been given complimentary copies of any books and/or other products mentioned below for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: The Film Buff's Bucket List

Today we are talking about The Film Buff's Bucket List by Chris Stuckmann. Stuckmann is a filmmaker, film critic, and YouTuber. In his book, he recommends 50 movies made in the 2000s that he alleges you won't want to miss. However, how valuable the book may be to you depends a lot on what types of films you like. If you don't like the same types of movies as Mr. Stuckmann, this book won't be all that helpful to you.  The book is heavy on genres like action movies and thrillers so if you particularly like these genres, you will probably enjoy the book. However, a lot of the movies mentioned are so popular anyway that you most likely will have already seen them although there are some movies mentioned that are not as well-known, and which you may not have seen.  On the other hand, if you are more into other genres like comedies, musicals or romances, you will find little or no recommendations regarding these types of movies in the book. Thus, this is a great book for specific movie fans but not for all movie fans.

Games: Hit List

Today we are recommending Hit List. This is fast-paced and fun game. It can be played by two or more players. You are given a clue and you have to guess the 6 answers to the clue written on a game card. The more players in the game, the longer the game takes although it never feels that long.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.

Monthly Mashup for October, 2020 Popcorn and Picking Favorites

Me - My topic for this month is popcorn. Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks. I like all kinds of popcorn but only when its buttery or cheesy or some other flavor I like. Movie popcorn always smells really good but never tastes that good. Microwave popcorn is much better but doesn't taste as buttery as it used to. I still love to eat it though. Sometimes, we put flavorings on our microwave popcorn. My favorites are white cheddar and garlic parmesan. I love to eat popcorn with flavorings, but unfortunately, we don't have them that much. Once we had bunch of different flavorings. We had them for a long time. We tried them on all different things not just popcorn. That was fun. Another time, we just tried different foods we had around the house on our popcorn including a lot of condiments. It was interesting, but mostly they weren't very good.  I just love popcorn

I Love ?

Mom - My topic for this month is favorites. I always have trouble picking favorites. I have a favorite color,  purple, and a favorite movie, The Sound of Music. Both of those have been my favorite for as long as I can remember. The Sound of Music was actually the first movie I ever saw, and it's been my favorite ever since. However, in most other areas, I don't have a favorite. My favorite song changes constantly depending on what I'm in the mood for or what's been on my mind lately. Picking a favorite Broadway show would be like picking a favorite child so I just couldn't possibly do it. There are just too many Broadway shows that I really love. I don't have a favorite TV show. There are ones that I like but again it depends on what I'm in the mood for. I kind of have a favorite game show Jeopardy but there are a lot of other ones I like a lot too especially the newer ones on the game show channel like America Says, Common Knowledge, and Master Minds. Somehow, I guess choosing favorites feels like narrowing down my choices too much even though rationally I know that just because something is my favorite doesn't mean I always have to stick with just that one thing. Or maybe, it's just too much of a commitment to pick a favorite. Whatever it is, I rarely have favorites of anything,

And that's our view. What's on your mind?

Tune in tomorrow for Tips for Tuesday.

Dracula, A Comedy of Terrors follows the legendary Count Dracula as he travels to England to seduce the woman of his dreams, stirring up danger, magic, sensuality and all manner of silliness. Created in the spirit of The 39-Steps, Dracula, A Comedy of Terrors reimagines the epic horror story of Count Dracula as a lightning fast, laugh-out-loud comedy. The live theatrical version is performed by five world class comedians who portray dozens of zany characters as they race from Britain to Transylvania and back. Their antics raise the audience’s collective pulse and cause blood curdling screams…of laughter.

The podcast radio play adaptation, created to benefit Broadway Cares’ COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund for The Actors Fund, uses a cast of 14 of Broadway’s biggest stars to create a vivid radio play reminiscent of the vintage broadcasts of the 1940s

The drama on stage pales in comparison to the drama behind the curtain….

AS THE CURTAIN RISES was created and recorded entirely in Quarantine.

11) Escape Velocity Extra

to Focus on Female Engineers

Wednesday Night, October 28,

7:00 – 8:30 p.m. ET

When the Museum of Science Fiction (MOSF) presents their next Escape Velocity Extra (EVX) online program, Wednesday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. ET, the spotlight will focus squarely on five prominent women in Aerospace Engineering, each of whom presently play critical roles in NASA’s ongoing partnership with private enterprises.

The next installment of the Museum’s ongoing online programming, entitled Women in Aerospace Engineering, will showcase today’s generation of female engineers, each with an eye toward both the 2024 Artemis Mission to the Moon and the eventual colonization of Mars.

While all five scientists have carved their own paths in the fields of aeronautics and space exploration, each credits such legendary female characters as B’Elanna Torres from Star Trek: Voyager (played by Roxann Dawson), Naomi Nagata (Dominique Tipper from The Expanse), Kaylee Frye (Jewel Staite from Firefly) and others, for their inspiration.

While registration – available at https://escapevelocity.events/evx/ -- is entirely free of charge, donations to the Museum, a 501(C)3 organization, are encouraged.

Moderated by Abigail Harrison, this 90-minute episode will discuss the contributions of real-world engineers to the fields of STEAM (science, tech, engineering, arts and math).

Colloquially known as Astronaut Abby, Harrison, only 23 years old, harbors the goal of becoming the first explorer to step foot on Mars.  Five years ago, Harrison founded The Mars Generation, a 501(C)3 nonprofit with the aid of an advisory board of astronauts, engineers, scientists and more than a million online followers and supporters. The nonprofit has reached more than 25 million people in its first two years of operation with its work to educate and excite kids and adults about space exploration and STEM education.

Harrison will be joined by:

Resounding, a live immersive audio entertainment company, will debut with a production of Dracula, on Friday, October 30 and Saturday 31 at 8 PM. Based on Orson Welles' radio play and adapted by Resounding Creative Director Steve Wargo, this production of Dracula will star Tony-nominated  Norm Lewis (Broadway: Once on This Island The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess) as Count Dracula along with Lindsay Nicole Chambers  (Broadway: Lysistrata Jones, Legally Blonde, Hairspray) as Mina Murray, Siho Ellsmore (Off-Broadway: Jewtopia. Based on Bram Stoker's horror classic, this live immersive audio experience will transport audiences to the heart of Transylvania and the decaying, undead world of The Count himself.  With your ears and imagination as your guide, join Prof. Van Helsing as he leads a team of vampire hunters to destroy the evil that is Dracula once and for all.

This fast-paced new immersive audio play, suggested by Orson Welles' 1938 radio adaptation, will use new, proprietary technology to create a live 360-degree soundscape of howls, bats, screams, creaky floors, slamming doors, and everything that goes bump in the night.

Resounding wants their audiences to ‘spend the night out at home’ as they gather with their friends near and far for the Halloween event of the year: dress in your undead best, light your candles, pour yourself a drink, and prepare to experience Dracula like never before. Resounding has partnered with award-winning NYC bartender Jena Ellenwood to help curate custom cocktails (and nonalcoholic beverages) for each of their shows; the team will engage with audiences with ideas for show-specific eats and treats, costumes, and décor on their Pinterest board. Audiences will also have the opportunity to share their experiences via a "virtual photo booth" that documents the shared experience of attending the performance together, even while being apart.

Dracula will be followed by live audio performances of a Resounding adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island (November), and the World Premiere of The Fantastical Tale of the Nutcracker and the Mouse King (December) casts TBA.
