One epic. Two brothers. What could go wrong? Avery (Ezra Barnes) and Bunce Lovejoy (Michael Gabriel Goodfriend) are brothers who share a dilapidated home. They are obsessed with A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens’ classic story of love and loneliness, rags and riches, revenge and sacrifice set in the turmoil of the French Revolution. They reenact the novel, playing all the characters themselves and putting their own stamp on the dissolute Sidney Carton, the bitter Madame DeFarge, the guileless Lucy, the earnest Darnay and sundry others. As they do, they bicker and revise, endlessly debating how best to tell the story. What are they searching for? Why A Tale of Two Cities? Is this the best of times? Or the worst?
A Tale of Two Cities, Cobbled Together by the Brothers Lovejoy was written and directed by Craig Fols. Fols studied with Stella Adler and Paul Austin and has credits on and off the stage including, “Nasty Little Secrets” (Kenneth Halliwell), “The Musical of Musicals” (The Hero), and his own work “Buck Simple”. Starring in this production are Ezra Barnes and Michael Gabriel Goodfriend. Barnes has credits Off-Broadway as well as in television and film. Off-Broadway credits include the New York premiere of Fraser Grace’s “Breakfast with Mugabe”, TV “Orange is the New Black” and “Jessica Jones”, and film “Motherless Brooklyn” and “Noah”. Goodfriend returns to the Centenary Stage Company stage, previous credits include Hovstad in CSC’s “An Enemy of the People” and Ali in “The English Bride” as well as shows in New York, Los Angeles, and abroad.

This year’s festival will be held on Thursday, October 21 and Friday, October 22, 2021 and will be presented as a unique digital and in-person hybrid, allowing wider accessibility for attendees
Now in its 33rd year, the National Alliance for Musical Theatre's FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS attracts theatre producers from around the world to discover eight new musicals over two days. Production costs are underwritten by NAMT, which funds the Festival entirely through donations and sponsorships.
NAMT will film live presentations of all Festival musicals this year. Those presentations will then be screened at an in-person event on October 21 and 22. Members of the industry are invited to attend the screening, where they also can meet the writers, or they can view a livestream of the presentations, which will be shown in collaboration with Broadway on Demand. The general public will be able to view the streaming portion of the event by making a small donation to NAMT

A Tribute to James Primosch on November 1
New York Festival of Song (NYFOS), led by Artistic Director Steven Blier, is presenting the 2021 NYFOS Next Festival with two concerts held at the Ann Goodman Recital Hall at Kaufman Music Center.
On Friday, October 22, 2021 at 7:00pm, the festival kicks off with 9 UNDER 34: Composers Younger Than NYFOS, co-curated by baritone Gregory Feldmann. The evening will feature works by composers born after NYFOS’s first program was presented, performed by baritone Gregory Feldmann and mezzo-soprano and 2021 Naumberg Award winner Erin Wagner, together with pianists Nathaniel LaNasa and Shawn Chang and cellist Thapelo Masita. Works include songs by Jake Landau, Sato Matsui, Shawn Chang, Iván Enrique Rodríguez, David Clay Mettens, Emily Cooley, Tariq al-Sabir, Curtis Stewart, and Molly Joyce.
The festival continues with A Tribute to James Primosch on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 7:00pm, honoring the late American composer and pianist. Soprano Lucy Fitz Gibbon curates and performs in the program which also features tenor Daniel McGrew and pianist Ryan MacEvoy McCullough.
Both NYFOS Next shows will be filmed and edited into digital programs, which will premiere after the live performance and remain online for four weeks

THE NEW SOLO SHOW IS A HEARTFELT COMING-OF-AGE STORY ABOUT A BIRACIAL GIRL GROWING UP AMIDST BUSSING AND THE DESEGREGATION OF THE NYC SCHOOL SYSTEM IN THE 1970s
The Bronx Babe, a fun, comical and touching coming of age story about a biracial girl growing up amidst bussing and desegregation of schools along with the racial tensions at an all-time high in the Bronx during the 1970s is slated to make it’s Off-Broadway debut this fall, Off-Broadway at Actors temple Theatre, 339 West 47th Street. The production is a solo show written, directed, and performed by Bronx native and NYC storyteller Sonny Marie Lee. The Bronx Babe is a true story about a half-Irish and half-Puerto Rican girl attending middle school in the early 1970’s. She learns about the value of true friendship, experiences her first kiss, and navigates her way through the Bronx during a period when racial tensions were high. Sonny shares comical yet meaningful stories about her multi-racial girl clique and the urban dances of back in the day. Her parents met and fell in love on the number 1 train in Manhattan. It’s a celebration of New York City culture that’s never been told before!

Theater Breaking Through Barriers (TBTB), the only professional Off-Broadway theater company dedicated to advancing artists and developing audiences of people with disabilities, is proud to return to Off-Broadway with the timeless revue – Brecht on Brecht. Directed by Nicholas Viselli, with musical direction by Dionne McClaine-Freeney, BRECHT ON BRECHT will begin performance on October 19 and will celebrate its opening night on Thursday, October 28, 2021, running through November 20, 2021, at A.R.T./ NY Theatre (502 West 53rd Street, NYC). A celebration of Brecht through his poems, stories, songs, and plays, Brecht on Brecht celebrates one of the 20th century’s greatest and most prolific playwrights with a stunning, kaleidoscopic, 90-minute revue of Brecht’s life’s work. Featuring poems, stories & scenes by Brecht, and songs by Kurt Weill & Hans Eisler, Brecht on Brecht explores the political and social issues he faced throughout his life as an artist fleeing the Nazi Regime and as an exile, ultimately landing in America. TBTB originally produced Brecht On Brecht 20 years ago, shortly after the horrific events of 9/11.

WHITE WAVE Dance announces free performances of their newest production, iyouuswe II (I-You-Us-We-Two), on October 28, and 30, 2021 at Bethesda Fountain, DUMBO Archway, and the Home of WHITE WAVE Dance, respectively, at 5pm EST as part of the City Artist Corps Grant Initiative. iyouuswe II is a multi-year collaboration with pioneering choreographer Young Soon Kim and composer Marco Cappelli, in collaboration with their performers, as they continue to explore the body's three dimensions in space. Probing the weight of human emotions, the work presents a vividly colored vision where movement and mise-en-scène meld seamlessly.
During this critical time of the Covid Pandemic, this piece challenges us to examine who we are and how we relate to ourselves and to each other. It is a story of developing relationships by which we struggle to find a sense of ‘i’ as part of a 'we.’
