Bordentown, NJ is a very historic city located in Burlington County, NJ. The city has been around since as far back as 1682. Thomas Paine, the author of Common Sense; Clara Barton the founder of the Red Cross; and Joseph Bonaparte, ex-king of Spain and brother of Napoleon all have ties to the city. If you are interested in learning more about Bordentown and its history and visiting some noteworthy locations within its borders, you are definitely going to want to take a Bordentown Walking Tour. The tour is great for all ages event those with limited attention spans because it only runs about an hour long. The walking is not excessive either. However, that being said, there is not really any place to sit down along the route, so it is definitely not a good tour for anyone who has difficulty being on their feet for an hour or who cannot really walking for any period of time.
The tour guide, Joshua is warm, friendly, and informative. When you first see him all decked out in his colonial garb, you just know it's going to be a fun tour. Joshua is so passionate about the City of Bordentown that he actually makes his home there. Accordingly, he is not only a great source of historical information about the city but other things related to Bordentown too like where to go to get a great meal.
On your walking tour, you will visit a number of important historic locations in the City of Bordentown including Thomas Paine Park, the John Bull Monument, and the Farnsworth home. However, you will not necessarily visit every historic location in the City on your tour. The Clara Barton School, for instance, will be mentioned but not visited. Still, you will definitely get a good picture of how important Bordentown is to the history of our country on this interesting and informative tour.
And that's our view. For more about Bordentown Walking Tours and other tours offered by the same company including Burlington Walking Tours, Mount Holly Walking Tours, and Haunted History Tours, visit bordentownwalkingtours.com. We will hopefully be talking more about some of these other tours in future posts.
