Alan Cumming
Legal Immigrant
Saturday September 29, 8:00 PM
See Alan Cumming in his State Theatre debut with a new show featuring a set list that is as eclectic and idiosyncratic as Alan himself!
Legal Immigrant, a collection of musings on his 10 years as a U.S. citizen, growing older, and what it feels like to be an immigrant in today’s America (regardless of your prefix) begins with a show-stopping opening of Walter Mark’s "The Singer," Stephen Sondheim’s "Old Friends," and "Not A Day Goes By" from Merrily we Roll Along then "Losing My Mind" from Follies—all combined into one American musical theater giants’ mash up!
The show continues in a style Alan calls "a true old-fashioned cabaret, a smorgasbord of genres, styles, and tales; laughter, tears and, of course, provocation!" He will cover songs made famous by female musical legends as diverse as Pink, Edith Piaf, Adele, and Marlene Dietrich. Ever wanted to hear Schubert and Peggy Lee together in one song? You will! Scottish treasures Robert Burns and The Proclaimers will make an appearance, and there might even be a Disney Princess medley sung without a drop of irony. The evening will end with Cumming inviting the audience to sing along with him to one of America’s best known and, in his opinion, most maligned anthems!

SESSION GIRLS (ORIGINAL CONCERT CAST RECORDING) – LIVE AT FEINSTEIN’S/54 BELOW
Session Girls gives us the inside scoop on music producer Joli Nye (Lauren Worsham, A Gentleman’s Guide To Love And Murder), bawdy backup vocalist Cocoa (Jill Abramovitz, Fiddler On The Roof), classical cellist Mariana (Oyoyo Joi, The Book Of Mormon), and their trials and tribulations as they navigate the music world, their love lives, and unanticipated change.
The subplot covers a harrowing major label/recording studio merger, helmed by Terrence Rand (Brian Charles Rooney, The Threepenny Opera), who is smitten in a most gentlemanly way with his new producer, Joli and, by happenstance, in the uncomfortable position of calming his anxious theater producer pal, Mitchie Karabakis (Robbie Rozelle, in a cameo performance). Max Beft (Ryan Andes, Big Fish; Sweeney Todd) is a studio engineer, enthralled with Cocoa, much to the chagrin of his fiancĆ©e Maya (Megan McGinnis, Daddy Long Legs; Les MisĆ©rables) and her cousin, Celia Webb (Lisa O’Hare, A Gentleman’s Guide To Love And Murder), an executive at the studio. Amidst all this, cellist Rouald Finckel (Bart Shatto, War Paint; Les MisĆ©rables), fiancĆ© to Mariana, is hoping for marriage, but Mariana isn’t ready, and has business plans with Delivery Guy (Jeff Hiller, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson; Nightcap). Cocoa’s Nashville musician cousin, Lucinda (Emily Padgett, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory), arrives with unbridled—and sometimes unwelcome—enthusiasm.
Track List:
1. Introduction by Session Girls creator, Mia Moravis
2. Painfully Self-Aware
3. Majoring In Minor Things
4. Tighten My Grip On You
5. I Got A Key
6. The Empty Chair
7. Nobody Understands Me
8. Johnny Doesn’t Live Here Anymore
9. I Got A Key ~ Reprise
10. I’m A Producer (And You’re Not)
11. I Dreamt Of You
12. Since When Is Schmoozing A Crime?!
13. Never A Shoo-In
14. Nothing To Brag About
15. We Should All Just Be Excellent
16. If You Want To Make Dough On A Show
17. At Least We've All Got Us
