I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - Disney's Newsies the Musical

What:  Disney's Newsies the Musical

Where: Kelsey Theatre
             1200 Old Trenton Rd.
            West Windsor, NJ

Who: All ages

When: Thursday - Sunday through September 16, 2018

Me - Newsies was good. It was one of the better shows we have seen at Kelsey Theatre. It was strange to actually see the show on a stage in front of me, however. My sister is obssessed with the show, and we watch the recording of the touring version of the Broadway show all the time. The acting in this version of the show was good and so was the singing. The stage was a little small for all the dancing, and it looked crowded when they danced. The set was fine, but it took up a lot of room that was one reason the dancing looked so crowded. All in all, it was an enjoyable performance and even my sister didn't hate it as much as we thought she would because she loves the Broadway tour version so much.

Mom - Since Newsies is one of my daughter's favorite shows, we have seen the filmed version of the Broadway musical numerous times including twice in the movie theater My daughter actually saw it three times in the movie theater. Accordingly, we are all extremely familiar with that version of the show, and therefore, I did not expect much from Kelsey Theatre's verison of the show currently running through September 16. However, for the most part I was pleasantly surprised. They did a nice job with the show. The acting and singing were both good. Ted Braun as Crutchie and the adorable, Camryn Burniston as Les were particularly good in their roles. Sean Dickinson as Davey was also very good. He started out a little weak but got better as the show went along. The dancing was okay. The dancers were good. However, the dances mostly seemed to be a re-creation of the dances from the Broadway show which worked better on Broadway because they had a bigger stage. If you have never seen Newsies before, you will really enjoy this rousing show. Even if you have seen it before  and even if love it as much as my daughter does, there is still enough to like about this version of the show that you should still enjoy it too.

Tune in tomorrow for Funtivity Friday.
