Me - Inside Out Tours: Great Women of New York Walking Tour was very interesting. While the walk itself wasn't too long, it was jam packed with information. If your looking for an experience that empowers women and their role in society, then this is the tour for you. This tour inspired me knowing the way that women have impacted history even in a time when they had little rights. We don't really learn a lot about women's history in school so it was nice to learn about history from the women's perspective for once. This is a great tour for people interested in learning a different side of history.
Mom - We have been on a lot of walking tours and visited a lot of historical places, and the focus is almost always on men's contributions and great men in history. Now, finally there is a tour that focuses on women's contributions to history and great women. There was Elizabeth Seton who was the first US born citizen to be declared a saint. There was Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton who fought for women's rights. These are just a couple of the women you will learn about on this tour. You will also visit The Fearless Girl Statue. She was put up on International Women's Day and was allegedly supposed to be taken down shortly after, but she quickly captured attention with her tough stance and her confident air serving as an inspiration to little girls everywhere. In fact, the whole Great Women of New York Walking Tour is inspirational for girls everywhere. It shows that women are just as important a part of history as men. I would highly recommend taking your daughters on this tour. Take your sons too because it is just as important for them to learn what an important role women play in history. Of course, this tour is not the be all end all of women's role in history not even of their role in history as it relates to New York City, and it's not meant to be. It is a start though and for that, we can all be grateful to Inside Out Tours for starting this wonderful and important tour.
And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Theatre Thursday.
