New York City is full of plazas, pocket parks, and squares. Greeley Square, named after the renowned founder and editor of the now-defunct New York Tribune, allegedly known for the expression "Go West, young man", is just one of them. Located near Macy's Herald Square, it's a good place to sit down and take a breather before or after a shopping trip to the famous department store or just any time.
You can actually learn about the history of the square when you visit without having to look anything up on your phone. It's part of the Know NYC campaign. This program designates certain historic areas of the city and provides signage and pictures on site outlining the location's historic significance.
And that's our view. If you are unable to visit or you would like to learn more about Greely Square without visiting, go to www.nycgovparks.org/parks/greeley-square-park or www.hmdb.org/m.asp?m=154445
Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
