I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

(For information about next year's event visit https://www.broadwaycon.com)

Me- This year's BroadwayCon was really really fun! I have gone every year except the first year, and this year was my favorite one ever. There were several panels that had to do with some of my favorite shows. In the past, especially in recent years, there have been few specific panels that I felt that I absolutely needed to attend. However, this year, there were several that I was specifically looking forward to plus one that was my favorite ever.

There was a world premiere screening of the Pro Shot of the musical, Between the Lines, which ran Off-Broadway last summer. Afterward, they had a panel discussion with some of the cast and creative team. They were my favorite BroadwayCon events ever because the show is one of my favorites ever. Immediately, when I heard they were having these events, I knew I had to be there. Other panels I really loved included ones regarding & Juliet, and School of Rock. I also really enjoyed parts of the First Look including an act from a magic show which looked really cool and two songs from Back to the Future, which is the top show I want to see.

BroadwayCon this year was so much fun that it seemed to go by faster than ever. I can't believe it's over already. I can't wait for next year!

Mom-

This year's BroadwayCon venue, the Marriot Marquis, was the best one yet. The location, right in the middle of the theater district, was perfect. With events located on several floors, it never really felt crowded. Unlike last year's 7-floor walk-up or tiny elevator up to the main floor, there was easy escalator or decent-sized elevator access between floors. The floors were set up circularly rather than in long straight hallways making it easy to find what you were looking for. Plus, there were plenty of bathrooms and water coolers available on every floor as well as supplies like pens, paper, tissues, and hand sanitizer.

There were so many fun and interesting things to see, do, and/or participate in. There were plenty of exciting panels to choose from with subject matter including shows past and present, various elements of putting together shows,  representation in theater, and so much more. Specific panels this year included one on the disaster that was the Spiderman musical, and another one about creating the environment of a show which included no less than esteemed composer, John Cander, as a member of its panel.

Beloved favorites like First Look, Family Feud, Star to Be, and more were back this year as well. First Look provided a glimpse at current and incoming shows including Back to the Future, Off-Broadway's Titanic,  and even the recently announced How to Dance in Ohio as well as the nonmusical, The Shark is Broken,  and many more. Family Feud, although not as amusing as last year's version was definitely a highlight as always. Having so many great events like these and so many interesting panels to choose from as well made it extremely difficult to choose what to attend. It made us miss the BroadwayCons of the past when the first two days of the event were longer so we could attend exciting panels during the day and fun events in the main ballroom at night.

The marketplace at this year's BroadwayCon was more interesting than in several years although it did seem a little smaller than in previous years, You could have your picture taken with wax figures of the Phantom and Christine from Madame Tussauds. You could enter several lotteries to try and win various items including theater tickets. Of course, you could purchase plenty of theater merchandise as well.

All in all, it was a really enjoyable event, and we look forward to the next one which has already been announced for July 26 - July 28, 2024. Next year's event will be back at the Hilton Midtown located at 1335 Avenue of the Americas (6th Ave.) where previous BroadwayCon events were held in 2019 and 2020. While the Marriot Marquis is our favorite venue in which BroadwayCon has been held so far, the Hilton Midtown is a close second.
