Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical™, features a book and music by Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime). Co-Conceived by Ahrens, Flaherty, and Eric Idle and based on the Works of Dr. Seuss, Seussical™ is a journey through the stories of Dr. Seuss featuring the plots form Horton Hears a Who, The Cat in the Hat, and Horton Hatches the Egg. Audiences can expect to see well-known characters like Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and Jojo – the smallest Who of all.
The Cat in the Hat serves as the narrator and tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.
Performance dates and times for Seussical are Thursdays, July 27 and August 3 at 7:30 pm; Fridays, July 28 and August 4 at 8:00 pm; Saturdays, July 29 and August 5 at 8:00 pm; and Sundays, July 30 and August 6 at 2:00 pm with one additional Matinee at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 2. The World’s Largest Kaleidoscope is located at the Emerson Resort & Spa in the Catskill Mountains which recently celebrated their 27th year and is debuting a brand new “kaleidoshow”, The Earth Laughs in Flowers, just in time for summer 2023.
The Earth Laughs in Flowers is a homage to the Emerson Resort & Spa’s namesake, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and his 1836 essay Nature. The essay, which was inspired by the serene beauty of the Catskills, prompted the American Conservation Movement, and led to the establishment of the 600-square-mile Catskill Forest Preserve that surrounds the Emerson Resort & Spa.
Created entirely in-house, the family-friendly “kaleidoshow” is free for guests under 12 years old and boasts nearly 500 photo and video images of flora, fauna, architecture, and panoramic Catskill vistas. The music that plays behind the colorful show was also composed, performed, and recorded by staff. Since the grand opening in 1996, this is only the second new “kaleidoshow” to be introduced.
Originating in the 1800’s, the grain silo that holds the Kaleidoscope was once part of a family farm that sat on the land now home to the Emerson Resort & Spa. More than a century later, Emerson co-founders Emily H. Fisher and Dean Gitter purchased the farmlands and decided to build a tourist destination to help boost the economy and provide a source of jobs for the area. From there, construction began on the 65-foot high, 18-foot-wide silo that includes specially designed seating, allowing 30 viewers at a time to view the show. The Kaleidoscope features an intricate 37.5 foot tall, three mirror system, weighs two-and-a-half tons, and can reflect over 254 images at a time, creating an illusion of more than 3,000 images on a 50-foot virtual sphere.
Guinness World Records certified the Kaleidoscope as “The World’s Largest Kaleidoscope” in 1997, and to this day, the resort property highlights the spectacle in many ways. Nestled in the Catskills and about a two-hour drive from NYC, the Emerson is closeby breathtaking hiking and biking trails, ski slopes, and much more that inspire their nature-based “kaleidoshows”. The resort itself features 53 rooms and suites, a signature restaurant Woodnotes Grille, dog-friendly amenities, a Spa, and the Emerson Shops. The Kaleidostore, located in the shops, is one of the few brick-and-mortar shops left in the country specifically dedicated to the sale of kaleidoscopes, including many unique and one-of-a-kind scopes.

THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES COMEDY ABOUT THE MAKING OF THE ICONIC BLOCKBUSTER JAWS OPENS AUGUST 10, 2023
FOR A STRICTLY LIMITED 16-WEEK ENGAGEMENT
The Tony-Award winning team of Sonia Friedman Productions, Scott Landis, and GFour Productions are delighted to announce Digital Lottery and Rush policies for THE SHARK IS BROKEN on Broadway.
THE SHARK IS BROKEN Telecharge Digital Lottery provides theatregoers wide access to affordable tickets through multiple social media networks. Entries for THE SHARK IS BROKEN’s digital lottery start at 12 AM, 1 day before the performance, and winners are drawn the same day at 10 AM and 3 PM. Winners have 5 hours to complete their purchase and may buy up to 2 tickets at $46 each. Visit rush.telecharge.com to enter and to check your results.
A limited number of THE SHARK IS BROKEN $30 rush tickets (including service charge) will also be available for purchase in-person at the Golden Theatre box office (252 West 45th Street), beginning at 10am for that day's performance only. Maximum two tickets per person. Rush tickets are subject to availability and may not be offered at all performances. Rush seating locations will be determined at the discretion of the box office.
THE SHARK IS BROKEN stars two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Brightman (Beetlejuice, School of Rock) as Richard Dreyfuss, Colin Donnell (Anything Goes, “Chicago Med”) as Roy Scheider, and Ian Shaw who will make his Broadway debut portraying his father Robert Shaw, who played “Quint” in JAWS. Co-written by Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon, this new Olivier Award-nominated comedy imagines what happened on board “The Orca” when the cameras stopped rolling during the filming of Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster, JAWS.
FADE IN: The open ocean, 1974. Filming on JAWS is delayed…again. The film’s lead actors—theatre veteran Robert Shaw and young Hollywood hotshots, Richard Dreyfuss and Roy Scheider—are crammed into a too-small boat, entirely at the mercy of foul weather and a faulty mechanical co-star. Alcohol flows, egos collide, and tempers flare on a chaotic voyage that just might lead to cinematic magic…if it doesn’t sink them all.
Tickets for THE SHARK IS BROKEN are available at Telecharge.com (212.239.6200) and at the John Golden Theatre box office (252 West 45th Street). Tickets range from $49 - $119 (including $2 facility fee) during the specially priced preview performances. The playing schedule for THE SHARK IS BROKEN is as follows: Monday – Saturday at 8pm, with matinees on Saturday at 2pm. Please note: There will be an added 2pm matinee on Wednesday, August 2 and Wednesday, August 9. Beginning Friday, August 11, the performance schedule is as follows: Tuesday – Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 8pm, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm, and Sunday at 3pm. Please note: There will be no matinee on Sunday, August 13.

In 2019, Sean Hayden thought he had booked the role of his dreams at the prestigious Goodspeed in its production of "Billy Elliot, The Musical." As he drove over the Connecticut River and laid his eyes on the fairy tale Opera House for the first time, Sean had no idea what would be looming behind its doors. "Stage Combat: A Mental Health Story" takes the listener into the insular world of the theatre industry in which the unspoken rule is, “You are not supposed to speak up. Or there will be consequences.” If you thought all the drama happens on stage, wait until you hear what happens after the curtain closes in this immersive listening experience. In a unique format, each episode is followed by a short “post-show talk back” with Sean and a mental health professional. Together they unpack the issues presented in the episode in provocative conversations about mental health and the theatre industry.
Season One of Stage Combat: A Mental Health Story showed the listener, moment by moment, how a mental health crisis happened at the Goodspeed Opera House. In Season Two, the listener will experience the fallout from that mental health crisis in an epic eleven-episode arc of Sean Hayden’s mental health journey.
With the Stage Combat: A Mental Health Story Podcast, Sean aims to underscore the importance of raising awareness and providing support for the mental well-being of actors and theater staff. By fostering a culture of compassion, understanding, and accessible resources, we can empower actors to navigate the demanding nature of theater with resilience and confidence.
Listen to Season One now on Apple Podcasts. Season II began on July 25, 2023. NEW EPISODES DROP ON TUESDAYS AND FRIDAYS!
