54 Below Celebrates Fame a tribute to the original 1980 Fame movie was also meant as a tribute to one of the movie's stars, Irene Cara who played Coco. Cara recently died at the age of 63. The show was a beautiful tribute to both the actress and the film and a definite treat for fans of the movie. It consisted of a group of performers acting out bits of dialogue from the movie, singing songs from the movie's soundtrack and even recreating a little bit of the film's dance sequences. There were also live appearances from the movie's original producer, 86-year-old David Da Silva and actress, Laura Dean, who not only appeared in the film but also attended the actual High School of Performing Arts in New York City. There were video appearances from actress, Maura Teefy who played Doris and songwriter, Dean Pitchford as well. There were even a few film clips. All in all, it was a joyous celebration of a beloved film.
