GALATEA 2.0 is a modern speculation on the "Pygmalion" myth, a deconstruction of the muse/artist relationship, and an exploration of intimacy that merges Mrs. Patrick Campbell/George Bernard Shaw, found text, incel culture, lots of blue Gatorade, puppetry, plinths, and a very old Pekinese. The show chronicles Eliza, a sex worker hired by a disaffected young man to role play as a top of the line "love doll" when his own doll mysteriously breaks.

Here is Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin’," “It's Raining on Prom Night," and “Born to Hand Jive.” An eight-year run on Broadway, two subsequent revivals, and innumerable school and community and regional productions place Grease among the world's most popular musicals.

Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre’s tenth engagement of Green Afternoon in The Hamptons will be a movable outdoor performance in a unique garden setting. The performance includes movement installations in the various outdoor “rooms” throughout the property followed by a seated performance preview on the great lawn of the developing work: Habit Formed. Habit Formed is an evening-length that explores how habits function in our lives. These habits can manifest strength, ease, and freedom and also create limits, boundaries, and affliction. The ultimate journey of the work will tell a story of discernment, unpacking how we can be empowered by our habits and not impaired by them.

BROADWAY BARKS is thrilled to return to Shubert Alley on Saturday, July 8, 2023, for the 25th annual star-studded dog and cat adoption event. Co-founded by Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, the event features adoptable animals from 24 NYC area adoption agencies and rescue groups along with Broadway’s biggest names who use their star power to help them find loving homes.
As part of the milestone anniversary, Peters will host the event with satirist and animal lover Randy Rainbow and with a special appearance by Josh Groban.
Produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the adoption event takes place in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenues). BARKS begins at 3 p.m. with a ‘meet and greet’ of all the adoptable pets; from 5-6:30 p.m. adoptees make their Broadway debut on stage alongside some of Broadway’s favorite stars for the celebrity presentations.
BROADWAY BARKS is free and open to the public. Proceeds from the event benefit the participating shelters and rescue groups.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum invites children and their caregivers to enjoy fresh air and a round of 9-hole miniature golf on the Museum’s rooftop alongside some exciting visitors from the distant past! Jurassic Mini-Golf pairs the classic family pastime with the sights and sounds of large, animatronic dinosaurs—to the delight of dino-loving kids.
Jurassic Mini-Golf opens to the public on Saturday, July 8 and will be open throughout July, August, and September during the Museum’s regular hours, 10:00 am–5:00 pm, Wednesday through Sunday (the Museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays). Entry is granted on a first come, first served basis, and are staggered to allow sufficient space for golfers. The final tee time will be at 4:30 pm.

Three-Week Intensive Provides Invaluable Training and Access
To Aspiring Music Directors
Two not-for-profit organizations promoting diversity in the music theatre industry will launch The MUSE/MAESTRA Music Director Experience with the Broadway blockbuster WICKED. MUSE (Musicians United for Social Equity), which is dedicated to cultivating racial equity in theatrical music departments by providing support to historically marginalized people of color, and MAESTRA, which provides support, visibility, and community for women and nonbinary people who make the music in the musical theater industry, will host a three-week intensive that will provide the recipient one-on-one access to WICKED’s music team, including shadowing them through rehearsals, auditions, and performance.
The Music Director Experience is open exclusively to NYC (Tri-State) area MUSE and MAESTRA Directory members who are emerging MDs looking to make a big leap in their MD journeys. This experience will be a 3-week intensive shadowing engagement in-person in New York City with a modest paid weekly stipend. Day- to-day duties will include observing cast rehearsals, observing performances from both the orchestra pit and the sound board, studying one of the keyboard books from the show, and gaining practical playing and conducting experience by working with the Music Director one on one. Some MD experience is necessary to be considered. The application deadline will be Monday, July 10th, 2023 11:59pm EDT. Selected musician(s) will be notified by Thursday, July 20th, 2023.
