Cazares creates an epic multiverse where time is fluid and the characters are refracted through literal televisions, imagined video games, endless Walmart aisles, and a double-wide torn in two. NYTW Usual Suspect Rubén Polendo, founding artistic director of Theater Mitu, directs the multi-media production which includes live performance, live camera feeds and pre-recorded video.

It is 1941 and Walt Disney is out of his depth in their new Burbank studio; Pinocchio and Fantasia are losing money. An outside union is signing up employees and making personal threats against Walt and the studio. When Art Babbitt, the womanizing genius animator of Goofy, finds a female worker passed out on the lawn for lack of nutrition, he decides to join with the union and lead a strike against the studio. BURBANK presents a clash of egos, art, and commerce, as the Disney studio faces what could be the end of the golden age of animation.

On the Verge
Three intrepid Victorian women explorers travel through time in Retro Productions revival of Eric Overmyer’s play On the Verge (or the Geography of Yearning). Retro will put their own unique spin on the comedy that follows Mary, Alex and Fanny as they travel into the future and discover a world that is beyond anything they could imagine. The epic journey takes them through the jungle, over ice cliffs and right up to an Esso station in 1950’s America where their greatest adventures await - including their first encounter with Cool Whip.
On the Verge: or The Geography of Yearning is a whimsical and funny look at how mores, language, and technology changed over the first half of the 20th Century. It is the fantastical journey of three lady explorers from 1888 who, while traveling in Terra Incognita, find themselves traversing time, and end up in 1955 America. Along the way they meet strange and wondrous characters, learn slang, experience artifacts from the future, and debate the appropriateness of a lady wearing pants.

3) Jaime Lozano Returns to Lincoln Center with All Star Cast to perform ¡Viva La Vida!

Heralded by no less than Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda as “the next big thing,” the Mexican composer-director Jaime Lozano returns to the David Rubenstein Atrium for special peek into the upcoming Broadway musical Frida, The Musical, about the life of famed artist Frida Kahlo. Lozano will be joined on stage by a cast of Latinx/e musicians and singers on this special night.
On September 7th at 8:00pm, audiences are invited to enjoy a preview of select songs that fuse Mexican folk music with a lush, contemporary sound. With music by Jaime Lozano and lyrics by playwright Neena Beber, the Broadway-bound show—currently scheduled for 2024—portrays the artist in a new light.
Based on the book Intimate Frida by Isolda Pinedo Kahlo, Frida, The Musical celebrates the very real person behind her iconographic imagery, an original disruptor and influencer who redefined beauty, sexuality, and humanity in her time, and continues to inspire generations of new fans. Into the Woods has now extended, by popular demand, through October 16.
Joining the company on September 6 are Stephanie J. Block as the Baker’s Wife, Sebastian Arcelus as the Baker, Krysta Rodriguez as Cinderella, Katy Geraghty as Little Red Ridinghood, Jim Stanek as the Steward, and Montego Glover will share the role of The Witch with Patina Miller. Gavin Creel and Joshua Henry extend as the Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince and Rapunzel’s Prince, respectively.
Andy Karl will play the role of the Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince from September 6 through September 15, as Gavin Creel fulfills a prior commitment. Creel returns to the production on September 16.
Beginning on September 27, Ann Harada will reprise her role of Jack’s Mother from the City Center Encores! production. Aymee Garcia will continue as Jack’s Mother through September 25.

In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company has established a new dance institute through Zoom, The Bridge. The Institute’s aim is to bring together dancers, choreographers and directors around the world to experience the master teachers of color whose practices are embedded in the community and are focused on advancing the art of dance that transform the personal, environmental and metaphysical spaces. Interested dancers can join the class by registering here.
As a virtual dance institute, The Bridge will invite world renowned as well as up and coming dancers and choreographers to come to guest teach the class. Advanced/Intermediate level professional or pre-professional dancers who are looking to explore beyond their own boundaries and looking for new dance experiences are encouraged to participate. The core program is based on Nai-Ni Chen’s Kinetic Spiral, which is a cross-cultural dance vocabulary that integrates the Chinese martial arts philosophy in TaiChi with contemporary dance practices she studied in America. Guest artists will cover a wide range of folk and classical dance styles.

Anthony states, “I wrote this play a few months after the unexpected death of my father, using it not only to mourn, but to purge the feelings I was harboring of guilt, isolation, and confusion as I tried to comprehend the incomprehensible. Through this outpour, this first draft came into the world as suddenly and abruptly as my father left it.”

A new special Global Edition Album of The Phantom of the Opera has been released by Universal Records.
The Phantom of the Opera Global Edition is a streaming release made up of eight discs including complete cast recordings in seven languages: Korean (2009), Polish (2008), Hungarian (2003), Mexican Spanish (2000), German (1990), Swedish (1989) and Japanese (1988). Each of these albums were released at the time of recording, but are now presented together on one album, digitally for the first time.
In addition to the complete soundtracks, Disc One of the Special Edition is a 15-track highlights compilation, which includes the new 2022 West End cast recording of The Phantom of the Opera title track performed by Killian Donnelly and Lucy St. Louis at The Platinum Party in the Palace to honor Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
This album represents over 30 years of The Phantom of the Opera’s iconic history - from the Japanese recording made in 1988, to the new London track released in 2022.

8) ‘A Fair-y Tale of Fall Fun at NYC’s Only Farm, Queens County Farm, as the
Queens County Fair Celebrates Autumn & Agriculture September 9-11
A taste of autumn and agriculture return to New York City as the 39th annual Queens County Fair kicks off a fun season of harvest happenings at the Queens County Farm Museum (Queens County Farm), the largest tract of farmland in New York City, from Friday, September 9, through Sunday, September 11 from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Friday) and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Saturday & Sunday). Tickets for the Queens County Fair are now on sale here.
The Queens County Fair is also the opening weekend for the world famous three-acre Amazing Maize Maze that will run on weekends Fridays through Sundays through the end of October. The theme for this year’s corn maze will have visitors trying to ‘ram their way’ through every ‘corn’er to find their way out. This year’s inspiration is legendary Artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s work Rams Head Blue Morning Glory, which symbolizes her respect for land and culture, core values of what the Queens County Farm Museum represents.
Dating all the way back to 1693, Queens County Fair activities and family favorites include:
· Traditional carnival rides and games, including sack races, spoon relays, along with kids’ crafts.
· Experiencing life on the farm with historic farmhouse tours, cooking demonstrations with locally grown produce, tractor-drawn hayrides and visiting the farm’s goats, sheep, alpacas, pigs, hens, and steer.
· Vying for the first-place ribbon with pie eating contests, corn husking contests and blue-ribbon competitions for produce and arts & crafts. Those interested in participating can register here.

South Street Seaport Museum’s monthly sea-music events continue in September. Sea Chanteys and Maritime Music – the original NYC chantey sing, now made popular on TikTok – will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 2pm, in-person aboard 1885 tall ship Wavertree. Join a round-robin of shared songs featuring members of The New York Packet and friends. Singers of all levels, as well as listeners, are welcome to lead or request a song, join in the choruses, or just listen as we present traditional maritime work songs and ballads on the first Sunday of every month. Chanteys at Work, a workshop and performance by chantey singer and educator Chris Koldewey, takes place on the second Sunday of every month. On September 11, 2022, Chanteys at Work workshops will run at 12pm, 1pm, and 3pm, showing how chanteys were used to help with the work on halyards, capstan, pumps, and more. Stop in for a single session or spend the afternoon learning as part of general admission onboard Wavertree. No registration needed. For more information, visit seaportmuseum.org/chanteys-at-work.
Both in-person events will take place on the main deck of the 1885 tall ship Wavertree. Guests must walk up a few stairs and along an angled gangway to board the ship. Before or after each event, participants are invited to tour the Seaport Museum gallery exhibitions at 12 Fulton Street, as well as visit Wavertrand the 1908 lightship Ambrose on Pier 16, all free of charge.
