I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday -Rochester Red Wings

We were given complimentary tickets to a Rochester Red Wings game for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Rochester Red Wings

Where: Frontier Field
            333 Plymouth Ave.
            Rochester, NY

Who:  All ages

When: See schedule here

Me -I had fun visiting the Rochester Red Wings. The game was exciting but mostly for the other team. They had a good last inning but they still lost. It was okay for me either way because I am in it more for the experience.

The food was good. It was kind of hard to find food. Instead of having all the food in one place, they had different kinds of food at different stands. When we finally found what we wanted, I liked it. However, most stadium food tastes kind of tastes the same to me anyway.

There was a horse statute made of baseball gloves at the stadium. That was unique and interesting. They had a lot of banners of major leaguers players who had played there too.

My favorite part of the game was Milo the bat dog. He was so cute. He got more cheers than the players. He also worked for most of the game except the last inning. Other bat dogs I have seen didn't work for that much of the game so it was cool to see him stay in the game so long.  Even though I enjoyed seeing Milo the most, overall, I had a good time at the Rochester Redwings game I attended.

Mom - The Rochester Red Wings are the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. They have been in existence since 1946 although they were not always a Triple-A team nor were they always affiliated with the Nationals. The Nationals have only been the Nationals since 2005, and they have only been a team at all since 1969.

Players and managers who have passed through Rochester on the way to the big leagues include Cal Ripken Jr., Joe Altobelli, Bobby Grich, and Earl Weaver. There are banners at the Red Wings stadium paying tribute to some of these former players. There is also a Red Wings Hall of Fame at the stadium.

A visit to a Red Wings game is pretty much like a visit to most other minor league stadiums in a good way. In addition to the game itself, there is plenty of between-innings entertainment and plenty of food. The taste of the food is comparable to what you get at other stadiums. It is a little harder to find the food you are looking for at this stadium, however, because there are different stands depending on what type of food you are looking for. Most stadiums might have specialized stands or kiosks for ice cream or beer or something but most foods can be found at most stands throughout the stadium not at the Red Wings stadium, however.

One thing that the Red Wings have that most other teams don't and a definite highlight of a visit to the Red Wings is their bat dog, Milo. Milo retrieves the bats of the Red Wing players after their turns at bat. The Trenton Thunder and maybe one or two other teams also have a  bat dog. The Thunder bat dog only works for an inning or two per game though usually. Milo, however, works almost the whole game.  Because of this, he does not work every game. In fact, he usually only works about one game a month. You can find out what games Milo will be working at on the Red Wings website.

Overall, a trip to a Rochester Red Wings game is a fun activity for the whole family. There is only a limited time left to catch one of their games this season, however, because it ends at the end of September. Therefore, if you are interested in going to a game, you should check out their schedule soon.

And that's our view. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.milb.com/rochester.
