I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Tattooist of Auschwitz & Cilka's Journey

We may have been given one or more of the books mentioned below for review purposes. Any and all opinions express here are our own.

Books: The Tattooist of Auschwitz and Cilka's Journey

Mom - Today I am recommending two books by Heather Morris.

Thr first book I am recommending is The Tattooist of Auschwitz. This books is a novelization of the true story of Ludwig (Lale) Sokolov who was charged with tattooing the numbers on his fellow prisoners in Auschwitz. It is the story not only of how he managed to survive, but also of how he managed to find love in the midst of all the horror. It is hard to believe that a story about the holocaust can have such sweetness and beauty to it, but this one does. It is so beautiful that under such conditions Lale and Gita can not only manage to find each other but to keep their love and themselves alive. Despite their circumstances, their love for each other is so sweet and pure. It fills you with hope that if even a place like that love can thrive, anything is truly possible.

The second book I am recommending is Cilka's Journey.  This book is a sequel to The Tattooist of Auschwitz. Cilka managed to survive Aushwitz by allowing powerful men to take advantage of her. Accordingly. after the war, she is branded a collaborator and sent to to a Siberian gulag. There Cilka somehow manages not only to survive and thrive herself but  at every possible opportunity she is always helping others as well. This is a very inspirational story about a woman  who is always thinking about and taking care of others before herself even after the terrible things she has been through and continues to go through. Even though Cillka feels like she has no hope, she still manages to spread hope to those around her. Cilka's journey is a deeply touching one, and you will definitely want to go along for the ride.

And that's Mom's view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
