I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday: Books: When She Returned & DVD: The Complete First Season Veronica Mars (2019)

We may have been given one or more of the books. DVD or other items mentioned below for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: When She Returned

Mom - Today I am recommending When She Returned by Lucinda Berry. Eleven years after she disappeared in a mall parking lot leaving her husband, and young daughter behind, Kate Bennett suddenly returns battered and traumatized and with an infant daughter in tow. Her older daughter, Abbi is excited to get know her mother, but it's not so easy for husband, Scott who now has two wives, or his new wife, Meredith, who is not sure where she fits in the family now, or for Kate herself who is not only having trouble adjusting to being back in the fold, but may still be keeping worrisome secrets. This is a really exciting book that draws you in a right away and keeps you wanting to turn pages. It is told in alternating points of view switching back and forth between the present and the past and the voices of Kate,  Abbi and Meredith in  a way that keeps you feeling sympathy toward each of them until the book reaches its shocking conclusion.

DVD: The Complete First Season Veronica Mars (2019)

Mom - Having never watched the original series, we were new to the Veronica Mars universe so I don't know how the new show compares to the original. There were so many characters, and they all seemed to be introduced rather quickly so it was a bit hard to get into the series and keep track of things. The  central mystery running through the plot regarding a series of spring break related bombings was interesting and kept you wanting to find out what was going to happen. The plot moved rather slowly. however, until the last episode or two. The main thing the series has going for it is its feisty confident tough as nails heroine and her sweet relationships with her detective partner father, Keith and her boyfriend, Logan at least one of which is irretreviably altered throughout the course of the series, but to say more would be to give away too much. However, if you like your shows, wrapped up with a nice happy ending, you probably won't enjoy this one.

And that's Mom's view.
