The Keyport Fire Museum offers an extensive look at firefighting history with a special emphasis on local history. The museum is actually located in a former firehouse that was built in approximately 1898 and remained a working firehouse through 1969. The museum houses a vast collection of memorabilia. Numerous helmets, badges, fire extinguishers, and fire-related toys are only a small sampling of the objects available on display. Special items include an 1880 Crane Neck Parade Hose Carriage, a piece of the Hindenburg Airship, and a large section of the World Trade Center. The museum is free to visit and offers free tours to schools, which include fire safety education.
And that's our view. The museum does not have a website but for more information, you can visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/people/Keyport-Fire-Museum-Education-Center or their Instagram at www.instagram.com/keyportfiremuseum.
Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
