I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - Saturday Church

We received complimentaty tickets to Saturday Church for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Saturday Church

Where: New York Theatre Workshop
             79 E. 4th St.
              New York, NY

Who: Recommended for Ages 14 and Up

When: Through October 24, 2025

Saturday Church is a coming-of-age story about a young boy discovering who he is and coming into his own. It is a timely story that highlights the importance of love and acceptance for all. It is full of exuberant singing and dancing. The score written by the popstar Sia contains some catchy earworms, including the opening number, which is later reprised. The music is not confined to one genre but rather spans several different styles, including gospel, pop, and hip-hop.

Bryson Battle, a former contestant on The Voice, stars in the lead role of young Ulysses. His performance is both heartwarming and stirring, and his voice is soaring.  J. Harrison Ghee oozes charisma. in the role of Black Jesus. Although they are known for these showy types of roles, their secondary role as the more prim and sedate Pastor Lewis really emphasizes their tremendous range as an actor. The rest of the performances are equally accomplished. The show is a joyous ode to celebrating one's true self.

And that's our view. For more about Saturday Church or to purchase tickets, visit www.nytw.org/show/saturday-church.
