Where: New York Transit Museum Gallery & Store
Grand Central Terminal
New York, NY
Who: All ages
When: Through October 26, 2025
This year marks the 100th anniversary of The New Yorker. Accordingly, the New York Library's Stephen A. Schwartzman building is hosting a retrospective on the magazine, which we will discuss further in a future post. However, they are not the only museum participating in the celebration of this seminal publication.
The New York Transit Museum Gallery & Store is hosting a much more irreverent look at the magazine's history. This exhibit focuses specifically on the magazine's coverage related to getting around the City. On display are numerous examples of cartoons and cover pages from previous editions of the magazine related to New York transportation, particularly the subway. Although most are quite humorous, there are a few more serious ones as well, including an eerie depiction of an empty Grand Central Station, which was published during the pandemic. The exhibit, like all New York Transit Museum Gallery exhibits, is free to visit; however, it will only be open through October 26.
And that's our view. For more information about this exhibit visit grandcentralterminal.com/event/commentary-on-the-commute.
Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
