A show about a ghost should either be scary or more farcical and funny. Unfortunately, this new show, about a young murdered girl doomed to haunt her own childhood bedroom, is neither. It has moments of both, but is mostly neither. There are a few moments of particularly scariness, making the show extremely unsuitable for very young children or sensitive older children, such as when a group of demon-like creatures suddenly bursts into the room, but it is generally just pretty bland.
The show is a musical, but none of the songs are memorable. The story is confusing. You don't really know what is going on, who most of the characters are, or what their purposes in the story are until almost the end of the show, but not in an exciting way that keeps you intrigued, more in a way that interferes with the enjoyment of the show. They are not interestingly mysterious. They just don't make sense.
The highlight of the show, by far, is Helen Floersh's performance in the lead role of Sally Spectre. She does an excellent job of portraying the innocence and naivety of a child cut down in her prime. Not for one minute do you feel like the character is not a young child. Her performance alone makes this show worth seeing.
