I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday - Showstoppers! Spectacular Costumes From Stage and Screen

What: Showstoppers! Spectacular Costumes From Stage and Screen

Where: 234 W. 42nd St.
             New York, NY

Who: All ages

When: Now extended through December 5, 2021

Imagine what it would be like to have the opportunity to get close to some of the amazing costumes from Broadway shows like Wicked, Six, Frozen, and more! Now you can! Showstoppers! Spectacular Costumes From Stage and Screen not only features costumes from the previously mentioned shows as well many more Broadway shows but also from ballets like Whipped Cream, movies like Respect, television shows like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and more. In addition, there are exhibits showing what costume shops actually look like as well as videos throughout the exhibit showing costume industry professionals at work and/or talking about what they do and more. Accordingly, the exhibit not only gives you the opportunity to see beautiful costumes from stage and screen but also to learn about what it's like to make them, how they are made, and even about some of the actual people who make them. There are also opportunities to learn from some of the people who make the costumes as different people who work in the industry will be making appearances at the exhibit and demonstrating various aspects of their crafts.

The costume industry was particularly hard hit by the economic shutdown caused by the pandemic, and since Broadway shows are just starting to open now, they haven't fully recovered. Accordingly, all proceeds from the Showstoppers exhibit will go to the Costume Coalition Recovery Fund. Thus, the exhibit is a win/win for both the costume industry and the public. They are getting some much-needed help and the rest of us are getting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get a close-up look at a large selection of costumes worn in some of our favorite movies, television shows, Broadway shows, and more. It's an opportunity not to be missed!

Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
