I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

1) DIGITAL LOTTERY ANNOUNCED FOR

THE WORLD PREMIERE OF

A COMMERCIAL JINGLE FOR REGINA COMET

OPENING NIGHT ON
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 27

AT THE DR2 THEATRE

A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet, the first new musical to premiere in New York City since the shutdown began, announced today a digital lottery for $39 tickets to the show. Available via www.ReginaComet.com, the lottery will be available for select performances. Lottery opens the day before the performance at 10:00AM and winners will be drawn two hours before the performance. Winners will have 90 minutes to pay for the tickets by visiting the box office with a credit card. Tickets will be held at the box office.

A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet is set for an official Opening Night on Monday, September 27, with the strictly limited engagement set to run through Sunday, November 14, 2021, at the DR2 Theatre (103 E. 15th Street).

Two nobodies dream of writing one hit song for everybody, but their day job composing jingles for commercials isn’t the big break they hoped. That is, until they’re plucked from obscurity by a world-famous pop star named Regina Comet (if destiny had a child, it would be her) and she wants them to create an anthem for her supernova pipes... and her new perfume. They’re so close to the big-time they can smell it, but following your passion doesn’t always lead where you expect. Making a hit song can be a shit-show.

Tickets, starting at $55, can be purchased by visiting the DR2 Theatre box office (Mondays – Friday, 12-7pm; beginning September 17: Tuesday – Sunday, 12pm - curtain), online at www.Telecharge.com, or by calling 800-447-7400.

Fountain jets dance magically with dramatic lighting and music as LED lights glisten for visitors. All of the additions serve to enhance and modernize the fountain’s beauty while entertaining visitors, ensuring its longevity for generations to come. Guests visiting the park day or night can enjoy choreographed “performances” that showcase the historic infrastructure of the fountain. Each performance is a selection of one of six songs. FREE.

o   “Gonna Fly Now” by Bill Conti, Theme from Rocky

o   “Beautiful Day” by U2

o   “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong

o   “Motownphilly” by Boyz II Men

o   “Firework” by Katy Perry

o   “Under the Sea” by Howard Ashman from The Little Mermaid

In between the shows, the Fountain is colored to complement the fall atmosphere in the Square.

After closing, the fountain is colored pink in support of Lights for the Fight saluting those who have survived breast cancer and reminding others stay vigilant in this fight.

15) THE LEHMAN TRILOGY

on Broadway

ANNOUNCES

DIGITAL LOTTERY

A digital lottery for The Lehman Trilogy, the highly-acclaimed, five-time Olivier nominated epic play by Stefano Massini and adapted by Ben Power, was announced ahead of the production’s first preview on Saturday, September 25.  This strictly limited, 99-performance engagement, comes to Broadway after the smash-hit, sold-out runs at London’s National Theatre and New York’s Park Avenue Armory, as well as a by-popular-demand sold out engagement in London’s West End. Directed by Academy Award and Tony Award winner Sam Mendes, and starring Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley, and Adrian Lester, in his Broadway debut, The Lehman Trilogy opens officially at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street) on Thursday, October 14, 2021.

The Lehman Trilogy digital lottery, powered by Broadway Direct, offers $40 tickets through the following link:

https://lottery.broadwaydirect.com/show/lehman-ny/.

The lottery will be available for all performances and winners will be notified within minutes of the drawing. Lottery opens the day before the performance at 10:00AM and closes at 4:00PM. Winners will have 60 minutes to pay for tickets online with a credit card. Tickets will be delivered via email the day of the performance. Seat locations and number of tickets awarded by the lottery are subject to availability and may be partial view.

Weaving together nearly two centuries of family history, this epic theatrical event and New York Times Critics’ pick charts the humble beginnings, outrageous successes, and devastating failure of the financial institution that would ultimately bring the global economy to its knees. The Lehman Trilogy, “a remarkable, spellbinding exercise in storytelling” (The Washington Post), is the quintessential story of western capitalism, rendered through the lens of a single immigrant family. Simon Russell Beale and Adam Godley reprise their critically acclaimed portrayals of the Lehman brothers, their sons, and grandsons, told in three parts presented as one evening in this “extraordinary theatrical experience” (The Daily Telegraph). And the company welcomes the heralded Adrian Lester for this special Broadway engagement in his Broadway debut.

16) LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

NOW RE-OPENS IN NYC

TONY AWARD NOMINEE JEREMY JORDAN AS SEYMOUR,

EMMY AWARD WINNER TAMMY BLANCHARD AS AUDREY, AND

TWO-TIME TONY AWARD WINNER CHRISTIAN BORLE AS ORIN SCRIVELLO, D.D.S.

AND MORE

The award-winning Off-Broadway production of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, has restarted performances at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street).

Seymour is a down-on-his-luck florist with a crush on his co-worker Audrey. When he discovers a mysterious – and voracious – plant, suddenly Seymour and Audrey are thrust into an epic battle that will determine the fate of the entire human race. With a book and lyrics by Grammy and Academy Award winner Howard Ashman (The Little MermaidBeauty and the Beast), and music by Tony and Academy Award winner Alan Menken (AladdinNewsies), LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS first premiered Off-Broadway in 1982, where it made audiences laugh, scream, and give up gardening for good. The musical has since catapulted into a global phenomenon, with productions across the world from Broadway to London’s West End, to Asia and Australia – plus a hit 1986 film adaptation directed by Frank Oz that starred Rick Moranis, Ellen Green and Steve Martin. Now, the musical has made its highly-anticipated return home to Off-Broadway, in an intimate new production directed by Michael Mayer that offers an unprecedented opportunity to get close — maybe too close — to an incredible plant with an insatiable appetite.

The series will showcase female pioneers Natsu Nakajima, Saga Kobayashi, Yumiko Yoshioka, Minako Seki, and Yuko Kaseki. Following butoh’s migration East to West, our series follows the spread of butoh in the US via Hiroko Tamano, who settled in San Francisco in 1980, and Joan Laage/Kogut Butoh, who first introduced butoh to Seattle in the ’90s. Women Defining Butoh celebrates the legacy of these butoh legends with performances by the all-female troupe DAIPANbutoh Collective (Seattle), Mexican dancer Eugenia Vargas, Chicago-based dancer Cristal Sabbagh, and a live performance by New York-based company Vangeline Theater at Triskelion Arts.

The festival will feature timeless butoh works; other pieces are more rooted in contemporary culture, as reflected in a haunting piece on gun violence and war by Yuko Kaseki (Shoot Jeez My Gosh); Commedia Futura’s retelling of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (Zero); and DAIPANbutoh Collective’s playful commentary on corporate culture (Corporate). “Dancing a line between the everyday, the divine, the personal, and the political,” Cristal Sabbagh challenges definition in Sowing Asychronicities; and with Eternity 123, Vangeline traces the symbolic journey of women's emancipation across time.

Take a trip back to Hawkins, Indiana, 1983: when times were simpler, hair was bigger, and unsupervised children were getting snatched by inter-dimensional creatures. Join Mike, Eleven, Lucas, Dustin, and the whole Hawkins gang for a night of adventure, thrills, indulgent pop culture references, pubescent angst, heavy synth, poor parenting, convoluted love triangles, cheap effects, dancing monsters, and maybe, just maybe… justice for everyone’s favorite frumpy ginger, Barb Holland.

“Welcome to Hawkins”
“Forever”
“The Adventure Song”
“The Dad I Never Had”
