1) THE FIRST NEW MUSICAL TO PREMIERE IN NYC SINCE THE SHUTDOWN BEGAN
THE WORLD PREMIERE OF
A COMMERCIAL JINGLE
FOR REGINA COMET
BEGINS PERFORMANCES
AT THE DR2 THEATRE
OPENING NIGHT SET FOR SEPTEMBER 27
BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO OF REHEARSALS NOW AVAILABLE HERE A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet, the first new musical to premiere in New York City since the shutdown began, began performances on Friday, September 17th at the DR2 Theatre (103 E. 15th Street), ahead of an official opening night set for Monday, September 27, with the strictly limited engagement set to run through Sunday, November 14th, 2021.
Two nobodies dream of writing one hit song for everybody, but their day job composing jingles for commercials isn’t the big break they hoped. That is, until they’re plucked from obscurity by a world-famous pop star named Regina Comet (if destiny had a child, it would be her) and she wants them to create an anthem for her supernova pipes... and her new perfume. They’re so close to the big-time they can smell it, but following your passion doesn’t always lead where you expect. Making a hit song can be a shit-show.
The show will play the following schedule: Tuesdays at 7pm, Wednesdays at 7pm, Thursdays at 8pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 3pm and 7pm.
Tickets, starting at $55, can be purchased by visiting the DR2 Theatre box office (Mondays – Friday, 12-7pm; beginning September 17: Tuesday – Sunday, 12pm - curtain), online at www.Telecharge.com, or by calling 800-447-7400.

2) TICKETS NOW ON SALE FOR
THE NEW MUSICAL COMEDY
A TURTLE ON A FENCE POST
THE SHOW THE (FORMERLY)
MOST POWERFUL MAN IN NEW YORK
DOESN'T WANT YOU TO SEE
FIRST THEATRICAL PRODUCTION TO BE SOLD VIA VENUETIX
PREVIEWS BEGIN OCTOBER 26
OPENING NIGHT SET FOR NOVEMBER 14
AT THEATER 555
Max Brod Productions (Hank Morris, Executive Producer) announced today that tickets are now on sale for the new off-Broadway musical comedy A Turtle on a Fence Post, set to re-open the newly renamed Theater 555 (555 W. 42nd Street) with performances beginning Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
A Turtle on a Fence Post marks the first time that ticketing platform VenueTix is partnering with an Off-Broadway venue to offer white-label ticketing services for a full theatrical production.
“A turtle on a fence post,” is one of Bill Clinton’s favorite colloquialisms: “If you see a turtle on a fence post,” the former president likes to say, “you know it didn't get there by itself.” Set in the contrasting locales of a comedy club and a correctional institution, Turtle… tells the fish-out-of-water story of a prominent New Yorker thrown into an unknown world by New York’s most powerful man, and how the experience changes him and those around him. The show deals with themes of freedom, forgiveness, truth and shifting perspectives, and features a bullying, toxic, retaliating, brutal New York Governor as its principal antagonist.
While at heart a vibrant story of love and friendship, Turtle… intersects with several major issues of our time including criminal justice, parole reform, and public leadership. The show reveals how learning can arise in the most unexpected places, from the most surprising sources, and with the most meaningful consequences.
A Turtle on a Fence Post, with an official Opening Night set for Sunday, November 14, will play a limited ten-week engagement through Sunday, January 2, 2022. All attendees will be required to show ID and proof of COVID vaccination.
Additional information, including casting and complete creative team, will be announced shortly. To sign-up for updates, please visit www.TurtleMusical.com. *********************************************************************
3) INTERNATIONAL CONCERT ARTIST ADRIENNE HAAN
PRESENTS
BETWEEN FIRE & ICE
A DIABOLICAL WEIMAR-BERLIN KABARETT
CELEBRATING 1700 YEARS OF JEWISH LIFE IN GERMAN SPEAKING LANDS (321-2021)
FEATURING MUSICAL DIRECTOR RICHARD DANLEY, ON PIANO
IN RESIDENCE AT THE TRIAD THEATER
(158 WEST 72nd STREET, NYC)
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 @ 7PM
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 @ 2PM
International concert artist Adrienne Haan, in residence this fall at her New York performance venue The Triad Theater (158 West 72nd Street), will present “Between Fire & Ice – A Diabolical Weimer-Berlin Kabarrett” for two performances only on Tuesday evening, September 21 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday afternoon, September 25 at 2:00 p.m. Ms. Haan will be supported by her Musical Director Richard Danley, on piano. Tickets are $24 (a two-drink minimum is required) and may be purchased online at www.triadnyc.com. Proof of vaccination is required. The club has taken all COVID safety precautions, including the installation of a new air conditioning system with HEPA filters.
Celebrating 1700 Years of Jewish Life in German-Speaking Lands (321-2021), “Between Fire & Ice” is a diabolical Weimar Berlin Kabarrett depicting Berlin during the 1920s - a time of change, challenge, experiments and when traditions are going down the drain. With the First World War lost and the Kaiser in exile, Germany begins to experiment with a new form of government. The Weimar Republic is born and with it a nation longing for latitude.
Come and celebrate the Golden Age, the dance on the volcano between the two World Wars, a time of creativity, art, music and culture, the women’s movement, and gay liberation. Ms. Haan re-lives this bodacious period probing the ties between the feminist struggle and female glamour, taking her audience on an enchanting musical voyage through history. A brief trailer of the show can be viewed here. *********************************************************************

SEPTEMBER 20-NOVEMBER 30, 2021
Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) today announced the fourth year of The Eric H. Weinberger Award for Emerging Librettists, a juried cash and production grant to be given annually to support the early work and career of a deserving musical theatre librettist. The Award commemorates the life and work of playwright/librettist Eric H. The Orchestra celebrates its return to indoor concerts with an all-Mozart program in the superior acoustics of Alice Tully Hall, an ideal venue to showcase the composer’s substantial masterpiece, the Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viola, notable in that Mozart specified that the solo viola be tuned a half-tone higher to evoke a brighter sound. The performance features accomplished soloists Aisslinn Nosky and Maureen Murchie. The program also includes the Flute and Harp Concerto, K. 299 with the “relentlessly beautiful” music (WQXR) of harpist Parker Ramsay and the Handel and Haydn Society’s principal flutist Emi Ferguson, in addition to Mozart’s popular Symphony No. 29.

The title of this salon concert—Revisit—refers to the ACO’s highly-praised video launched in fall 2020, The Chaconne Project, which was filmed and recorded in Harlem. Thomas Crawford returns to the Parish for a live performance with the original film cast in a lively program of Baroque repertoire focusing on the chaconne, a musical genre characterized by its repeating bass line. From bawdy Spanish 16th-century dances to Bach’s masterful Chaconne for Solo Violin, this vibrant concert in the stunning setting of New York City’s Neo-Gothic Harlem Parish showcases ten examples of the chaconne and includes strings, plucked instruments, and harpsichord with voice and percussion. Acclaimed Mexican mezzo-soprano Guadalupe Peraza is featured.

The ACO's Principal Second Violinist Judson Griffin (1951-2020) was also lost during that time (but not to Covid), and Thomas Crawford's Elegy for Strings was written to honor him.

Mass in G Minor, BWV 235
Overture to Orchestral Suite No. 4 in D Major, BWV 1069
Easter renewal drives the joyous occasion of ACO's first-ever performance of J.S. Bach's Easter Oratorio and its rise from the ashes of dark stages. Written when Bach was at the height of his musical powers, the work includes such biblical roles as John the Baptist and Mary Magdalene, performed by solo singers without the extensive narration found in other large-scale Bach works. Also on the program are the Overture to Bach’s jubilant Orchestral Suite No. 4 and an outstanding example of the composer’s unparalleled counterpoint technique, his Mass in G Minor.

The ACO and its award-winning Classical Music for Kids (CMK) program is producing a filmed performance of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, in an original arrangement by founder Thomas Crawford, to mark a newly launched collaboration with The WNET Group’s Kids’ Media and Education Department. The WNET Group plans to premiere classroom resources from CMK on PBS LearningMedia, a free online site that reaches nearly 1.8 million users nationwide with tens of thousands of high-quality, research-based, and standards-aligned resources drawn from critically acclaimed PBS programs such as Great Performances and American Masters, and from expert content contributors like The National Archives and Library of Congress. The Orchestra’s production of Peter and the Wolf is performed by an ACO chamber ensemble with two professional mimes—the acclaimed Bill Bowers and Catherine Gasta—enacting the story. Attached to the video, but presented separately, are interviews with Thomas Crawford, the musicians, and the two mimes, giving students an opportunity to hear the performers talk about their careers, their inspirations, and their choice of instrument. *********************************************************************
7) THE ARGYLE THEATRE
LONG ISLAND’S NEWEST YEAR-ROUND
PROFESSIONAL THEATRICAL VENUE
PRESENTS
THE HIT BROADWAY MUSICAL
CABARET
PERFORMANCES BEGIN SEPTEMBER 17, 2021
FOR A LIMITED ENGAGEMENT
THROUGH OCTOBER 24, 2021
AT THE ARGYLE THEATRE IN BABYLON, LONG ISLAND
Returning to live entertainment! Long Island’s newest year-round professional theatrical venue, The Argyle Theatre (Mark and Dylan Perlman, Managing Partners; Evan Pappas, Artistic Director), presents the hit Broadway musical Cabaret with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Joe Masteroff, based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood. Rescheduled from March 2020 due to the pandemic, performances begin this Friday, September 17, 2021 for a limited return engagement through Sunday afternoon, October 24, 2021 at The Argyle Theatre (34 West Main Street, Babylon, Long Island). Cabaret is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920’s draws to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff Bradshaw, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. First presented in 1966, the ground-breaking musical Cabaret won an impressive 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, which then culminated into a smashing Oscar Winning film in 1972 winning 8 Oscars. This classic Kander and Ebb score is entertaining, thought- provoking and Broadway musical theatre at its best.
Cabaret will play the following performance schedule: Thursday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Saturday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. with a Special Added Performance on Wednesday evening, April 15, 2020 at 7:30 p.m0. 13) Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company presents
The Lecture
the third in a series of monthly dance films
on Digital Platform Dance With Us
September 26, 2021 at 12 noon ET
Just in time for the start of the new school year, New York-based nonprofit performing and teaching organization Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company premieres The Lecture, the third installment of a monthly series of dance films available on Dance With Us, an educational digital platform that launched in June.
The Lecture
Beginning Sunday, September 26, 2021
Released for the first time,
The Lecture (an evening-length solo that premiered at The Ailey Citigroup Theater in 2010) mixes the serious with the comic, the existential with the everyday. Set to a score of pre-recorded lectures by university professors,
The Lecture marries the intellectual and the physical to explore a variety of subjects including the history of language, the science of happiness, the nature of abstraction, mathematics, human evolution, and dreams.

Upcoming Monthly Dances to Premiere on the Dance With Us Platform
October 2021: Camo Man Dances
Filmed on location in Ucross, Wyoming, Daniel's alter ego, Camo Man, is out in the wild, blending into the landscape in dress and site-specific choreography, sticking out by performing contemporary modern dance into the untouched 20,000 private acres of cattle ranch on the Ucross Foundation's property.
November 2021: Just in Time for the Thanksgiving Holidays: Castillo
Filmed in southern Spain,
Castillo was shot on location at The Castillo de Blanca, a castle erected in the 12th century in the Spanish town of Blanca (Region of Murcia). Daniel's daily investigation and interrogation of the site was an arduous and risky process, climbing 730 feet daily underneath the intense summer heat, while the town took siesta, and onto the two towers and risky pinnacle, without being tethered.

December 2021: Just in Time for the December Holidays: The Performer
The Performer considers constructions of performance and homes in on the curvilinear separating fantasy from reality and drama from camp. The Performer presents a documentation of an over-the-top artist, a moody bon vivant with a penchant for excess and grand expression who lives large, including in the recesses of his head. The film is shot in the house Picasso gave to the surrealist artist Dora Maar, his famous muse and mistress, when he ended their relationship. Dora, significantly altered, lived and died in this maison in the Provençal village of Ménerbes, France. The film takes inspiration from her life, tackling the schism between the performance of self that one broadcasts to the public, and that which one endures privately.

17)THE PITCH
A NEW PLAY SET TO THE BACKDROP OF BASEBALL
TO RUN OFF-BROADWAY SEPTEMBER 26th - NOVEMBER 14th
AT THE JERRY ORBACH THEATER
Baseball, best friends . . . and betrayal. The Pitch, a character-driven drama set against the backdrop of baseball, will be making its off-Broadway debut this September, in a limited engagement run, September 26th to November 14th in the Jerry Orbach Theater at the Theater Center, 210 West 50th Street. Written by Stan Freeman and directed by Danny Eaton, the production begins previews on Monday, September 26th and will have its official opening night on Tuesday, Oct. 5th. www.thepitch-theplay.com
The Pitch is a funny and intriguing baseball themed story, where a cynical, down-to-earth retired sportswriter reluctantly agrees to collaborate with an eager young sportswriter on a paperback biography of an obscure baseball pitcher - Vernon Peters, who went to high school with the older writer. Peters threw only one thrilling pitch in the major leagues for the New York Yankees in 1973 and then disappeared. It soon becomes evident there’s a secret at the heart of Peters' mysterious story – one the older writer fiercely intends to hide. It’s a heartwarming and thoughtful story – with a surprise ending that will leave you stunned.
Tickets, $43 to $60, are available on Ticketmaster or by calling the theater’s box office at (212)-921-7862.

18) BURNT: THE SHOW THAT SET BROADWAY ABLAZE
debuts on Broadway Podcast Network
Broadway’s True Crime Investigation Podcast Follows Infamous Rebecca Musical Scandal
with special guests Sierra Boggess, Chistopher Hampton, Michael Kunze, Peter Bogyo, Michael Riedel and more...
Burnt: The Show That Set Broadway Ablaze, a new true crime Broadway podcast, debuted last month exclusively on the Broadway Podcast Network, and wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts. Written and produced by former Playbill editor in chief, Blake Ross, Burnt is a new investigative series into the scandal that rocked the would-be Broadway musical Rebecca. Find it on the BPN APP or at burntbroadway.com or bpn.com/burnt.
Burnt: The Show That Set Broadway Ablaze tackles the true crime genre set during the making of a big, Broadway musical. The saga that was getting Rebecca the musical to Broadway is filled with intrigue, mystery, concealed identities, sudden death, and even ghosts. The twisting plot of Daphne du Maurier's 1938 novel and its subsequent Hitchcock film is rivaled by that of the insane journey taken by the players in Rebecca the musical. At its core is producer Ben Sprecher, a wannabe Broadway big shot with dreams of making the next Phantom of the Opera. When he meets a grifter banker, his dreams go up in smoke. Years (and many, many court cases later), multiple people end up in handcuffs, dreams are shattered and everyone ends up getting burnt. Burnt also follows the whereabouts of notorious Wall Street fraudster Mark Hotton, a long island banker turned convicted felon.
To help tell the tale of Burnt, Ross interviews several key players in the affair, including Broadway star Sierra Boggess, Oscar winner Christopher Hampton, director Francesca Zambello, attorney Timothy Dennin, Vanity Fair correspondent David Kamp, Bloomberg News and Broadway Journal reporter Philip Boroff, historian Robert Viagas, Rebecca lyricist and librettist Michael Kunze, theatrical general manager Peter Bogyo, stage manager Tripp Philips, musical director Kevin Stites, reporter Michael Riedel, and producer Julian Schlossberg.
Burnt debuted with the four-part tale of Rebecca, and then forayed into discussions of other true crime tales from Broadway, including Jeremy Piven and the infamous “sushi gate”, a Beauty and the Beast star's journey to Riker's, Broadway's most successful con-woman, Adela Holzer, and the recent comeback of Broadway's own Bernie Madoff, Garth Drabinsky.
The Podcast is available on the BPN APP, Apple/iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart, TuneIn, Deezer, Player.FM, Pocket Cast, Podcast Addict and everywhere else you listen to podcasts.

Sometimes you've just got to jump in and be more than an artist to make theater happen. “I'm just an artist” no longer cuts it when you make the move from page to paying audience - you are the CEO of your brand! In this half-day workshop, we will look at how artists can successfully take on the challenging role of producer to generate their own opportunities. The ones who are most successful have to master a range of business skills, don a variety of hats, and learn to be expert jugglers.
Come learn to view your creative work from a business perspective and understand the need to think differently. Make smarter choices, not only now but also for the future of your show. It all seems a little overwhelming at times, but we will break it down into easily digestible bites. When you know what you're doing, it can actually be fun and fulfilling!
Moderators for this half-day workshop are Emileena Pedigo of The Show Goes On Productions, former managing producer of Midtown International Theatre Festival; and Bob Ost, writer-producer, executive director of TRU. Guest speakers will include:
- dramaturg/director/producer Cate Cammarata of CreateTheater.com;
- entertainment attorney Eric Goldman, esq;
- marketing expert and omnipreneur Roger Gonzalez of Alliance Media and Entertainment; production advisor/strategist and producer
- Blair Russell of Show Shepherd, a strategic theatrical development company, and producer (Slave Play, off-Broadway's long-running immersive Sweeney Todd) www.blairrussell.net;
