Beyond Perfection is a dystopian musical about a future where people's lives are completely controlled, even down to a program that instantly picks out the perfect mate. The show is equally hilarious and terrifying. It is filled with fun songs and plenty of humor. Yet, it is also a frightening commentary on our current world, with the rise of AI, the obsession with screens, and the constant need for immediate gratification. 

The show is full of quirky, fascinating characters, especially Aiden, the AI character and the controlling megalomaniac, Katrina Hope. Although the entire cast of this production was delightful in their roles, Cayel Tregeagle and Patty Lohr as  Aiden and Katrina, respectively, particularly stood out. Even if you don't usually enjoy dystopian material, you can still enjoy this compelling show, which, although dark at its center, is mostly pleasant and light in tone.

And that's our view. Beyond Perfection was part of the Broadway Bound Festival, which concluded on August 17.
