Love in Idleness is a modern musicalization of A Midsummer Night's Dream. In this version, A scientist invents a drug to make his husband fall back in love with him but things go awry when a couple of characters ingest it by mistake causing several mismatched pairs. A right-wing group hoping to get a hold of the drug to convert gay people makes the show extremely timely and gives it a little bit of gravitas. That particular plotline notwithstanding, the show is mostly harmless fun. The standout performers in the production were the quintet of actors who made up the contemporary Greek chorus moving the story along through song and dance. They were a particular delight.
And that's our view.
Tune in tomorrow for Tips for Tuesday.
