I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

What: Maybe Happy Ending

Where: Belasco Theatre
             111 W. 44th St.
             New York, NY

Who: Recommended for ages 10 and Up

Me -  Maybe Happy Ending is a unique and engaging show. It is about two robots living in a junkyard after being discarded by their owners. The cast was amazing! Darren Kriss did an excellent job portraying the lead robot. His movements really made it believable that he was a robot. Helen J. Shen didn't physically move like a robot as much, but she still portrayed her character beautifully, and she has a gorgeous singing voice too.

The story is very moving featuring themes of love, loss, and letting go. Despite the emotional moments, it is also quite funny. If you're looking for a show that expertly blends humor and heart, I would recommend this one.

Mom -  Hearing that the musical, Maybe Happy Ending, is about a pair of obsolete robots may cause you to lose interest. Yet, if you close your mind to this irresistibly charming show,  you will miss something truly special. It is an extremely unique and original deeply touching story. It's heartbreaking and heartwarming and full of delightful humor as well.

Darren Kriss as the robot. Oliver, does some of his best work here, which says a lot since he previously won an Emmy award. He is completely believable as a robot without overdoing it. Although Helen J. Shen doesn't have the robot aspect perfected as well as Kriss, she is delightfully warm and engaging in her role as the robot, Claire. Her singing is beautiful and sweet as well. She is definitely the standout singer of this four-person cast.

Kriss and Shen are complemented by Dez Duron as a singer, Marcus Choi in several roles, and a plant named Hwaboon. The latter is an integral part of the story in a way that makes perfect sense when you see the show, and it even receives a bio in the playbill.

The show has quite an appealing score. The songs sound lovely and are meaningful too. They may not stick in your head, but they are worth listening to again,  Happily, a cast recording will be coming out shortly.

Everything about this musical just works so beautifully together. The set is unique and interesting. The lighting and sound are just perfect. The performances are terrific. We cannot recommend it highly enough. It is definitely not to be missed!
