Me - Welcome to the Big Dipper was an interesting show. However, there were too many characters and storylines for a show that only ran about 90 minutes. It all felt too rushed. The plot and characters are not developed enough.
The music was decent. It was nice to listen to, but the songs were unmemorable.
Mom - Welcome to the Big Dipper is a musical with a fascinating premise. It is a show about two disparate groups that would never cross paths under any other circumstances except that both are involved in an accident in a snowstorm and then stranded in the same hotel.
The musical has some unique characters that you would not find in many other musicals including several Amish characters. The character's stories are interesting too. However, the story is simultaneously too much and not enough. It barely scratches the surface of these characters and leaves too much unsaid.
The show is both well-acted and well-sung. DeMone Serapin's voice is particularly memorable because it is reminiscent of Billy Porter's. There are some fun songs, but no real earworms. On the whole, it's a nice enough but not great.
