I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Books: No Crying in Baseball & Fly With Me

Today we are recommending  No Crying in Baseball: The Inside Story of a League of their Own: Big Stars, Dugout Drama, and a Home Run for Hollywood by Emma CarlsonThis is the story of the making of the film A League of Their Own. It tells how the film came to be written, how it was cast, what filming was like and so much more including information about the All-American Girl's Professional Baseball League, which was the basis for the movie. Anything you could possibly want to know about the film is in this book. It is chock full of insider information that you can't get anywhere else. Carlton really hits one out of the park with this extremely entertaining and informative book. If you like baseball, movies, and/or any of the celebrities associated with the making of the movie you will love it.

Today we are recommending Fly With Me by Andie Burke. Despite her fear of flying, Olive Murphy is en route to run a marathon to honor her brother when she ends up saving a life on a flight. The ensuing acclaim over her heroic deed causes her to get stuck in the airport for hours. Co-pilot, Stella Soriano, offers to drive her the rest of the way. They really hit it off, and Stella asks Olive to be her fake girlfriend since the good publicity Olive is generating for the airline may help Stella get the promotion she has been seeking. Olive agrees but soon realizes the feelings she is developing for Stella are very real.

It is refreshing how real the characters in this book are. They both have relatable issues they are struggling with. Olive has family issues and struggles with panic attacks. Stella is focused on her job and trying to get ahead while working for a company that clearly favors men over women. Past relationships have left them each thinking they are unworthy of love. Yet, they are perfect for each other, and their relationship with each other is so sweet. The journey they go on to discover that they are each capable and worthy of loving and being loved is really touching.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
