I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: Bright Lights Big Christmas & Horror Dogs: Man's Best Friend as a Movie Monster & Misc.: ComFits by Sheec

We may have been given complimentary copies and/or access for review purposes to any books, products, and/or any other visual or audio media mentioned below. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books:  Bright Lights Big Christmas & Horror Dogs: Man's Best Friend as a Movie Monster

Today we are recommending Bright Lights Big Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews.  Kerry Tolliver is reluctantly recruited to help her brother sell Christmas Trees in New York City over the holiday season She quickly gets to know her neighbors, including young Austin and his cute single dad, Patrick and becomes an integral part of the community.

Some may say that New York City is not a very friendly place and people don't even know their neighbors there, but that is definitely not true in this novel. It is full of heartwarming found family vibes.  It's like a steaming cup of cocoa to the soul.

True, the story doesn't really break any new ground. It's all pretty formulaic. However, it's just what you would expect and want from Mary Kay Andrews: a fun story, a cute romance, and a happy ending. It's a great way to kick off your holiday reading season.

Today we are recommending Horror Dogs Man's Best Friend as Movie Monster by Patrick Duggan. This extremely thorough book covers the entire history of villainous dogs in movies and television. It talks about numerous movies in detail starting as far back as the earliest cinematic versions of The Hounds of the Baskervilles up to and including Good Boy, a recent Netflix movie. Every incarnation of evil dog is extensively covered including trained dogs, ghost dogs, robot dogs, and more.

There is even a handy guide at the back of the book. It is meant to catalog the breeds of dogs found in different movies and shows. However, it can easily be used as a way to try to find new films and/or TV episodes to watch as the information included in the list is just as thorough as the rest of the book.  Just be warned if you are a big fan of these movies, and you don't like spoilers there are plenty of spoilers throughout the book. Therefore, you may want to watch as many as you can before you read.

Misc.: ComFits by Sheec

Today we are recommending ComFits by Sheec. Sheec has done it again. Their new no-show socks are super soft and comfortable and keep your feet warm and dry. They are perfect for participating in athletic activities but equally as great for a night out on the town or even just generally hanging around. You'll definitely want to get a pair (or more).

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
