Clean Slate is an original musical about a group of kids attending a camp for troubled kids that just may be haunted by the souls of missing campers from long ago. The story is interesting and unique. Although there may have been similar plots used in other forms of media, we don't think there has ever been another similar musical. Although the resolution of the plot is not completely satisfactory, there are some things about it that just don't seem to make sense, it is still quite an enjoyable show.
The songs are pretty although not especially memorable. The singing voices of the cast are lovely, and they blend together really nicely. The singing really is the highlight of the show although the acting is good too. None of the actors stand out more than any of the others. They all do a nice job in their roles.
We would not recommend this show for very young children as some parts of the show might scare them. Overall, is an engaging new musical for tweens and older.
The show is a joint venture between Ryder University and Passage Theater Group. It previously appeared on the campus of the university for one weekend, and it will be appearing at the theater company's Mill Hill Playhouse next weekend. If you can't make it to see the show live, it will also be streaming from March 21 - 26. For more about Clean Slate, or to purchase live or streaming tickets, visit www.passagetheatre.org/cleanslate
Tune in tomorrow for More Theater Monday.
