I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

1) Cellino V. Barnes

Cellino V. Barnes is a darkly comedic rollercoaster that captures the wild partnership of notorious injury attorneys Ross Cellino and Steve Barnes, from their meteoric rise in the 1990s through their spectacular break-up in the 2010s.

Witness the hilariously absurd antics of two lawyers who prioritize outrageous personal squabbles over their billion-dollar empire, navigating a minefield of ethical dilemmas, personal demons, and outdated fax machines. As their budding friendship and business collide with unchecked ambition, they must decide whether to find common ground or torch it all. Inspired by their infamous real-life split, this riotous romp reveals the rivalry and redemption of two men who changed the face of their industry, one iconic billboard at a time.

4) It's Not What It Look Like

What happens when you’re caught red-handed? Wiping blood off your hands…and everyone can see you. But you didn’t realize that. And an ill-timed food delivery is calling your phone. It’s Not What It Looks Like starts there. To prove their innocence, two people, M and W, go back to the beginning with their own version of events. As tensions rise, their narrative starts to crumble, and the truth comes out.

Holland Taylor and Ana Villafañe return to the stage as two congresswomen, generations apart in this new play about power, politics, and the perilous path to progress. N/A is a battle of wills -- and wits – between N, the first woman Speaker of the House, and A, the youngest woman ever elected to Congress. Inspired by real people and events, N/A illuminates the person whom many consider the most powerful woman in American history…and the once-in-a-generation political talent who defied her.

EDGE OF THE WORLD

BOOK, MUSIC, & LYRICS BY

NICK BLAEMIRE

AND

TONY AWARD NOMINEE

ETHAN SLATER

TUESDAY JULY 16, 2024 AT 7PM

AT CSC’S LYNN F. ANGELSON THEATER

Classic Stage Company (Jill Rafson, Producing Artistic Director) announced today a one-night-only concert presentation of Edge of the World, a new musical with a book, music, and lyrics by Nick Blaemire (Space Dogs) and Tony Award nominee Ethan Slater (CSC’s Assassins). Edge of the World will be held at CSC’s Lynn F. Angelson Theater on Tuesday July 16 at 7pm. For tickets and more information, please visit: www.classicstage.org/choose-seats/?eid=EdgeoftheWorld2024

The cast of Edge of the World will include Slater as Ben, Norbert Leo Butz (My Fair Lady) as Henry, and Lilli Cooper (POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive) as Kath. They previously appeared on the concept album of Edge of the World produced by Broadway Records and will reprise their roles for this performance.

When young Ben (Ethan Slater) and his father Henry (Norbert Leo Butz) move to a geological research outpost in rural Alaska, the only other person for hundreds of miles is a fellow researcher named Kath (Lilli Cooper). Ben uses his imagination to cope with his new surroundings, but as he learns more about the circumstances that brought him into isolation, the line between lie and reality begins to blur. It's a sweeping, handmade fable about the world we’re given, and the one we make for ourselves.

Tickets for the concert range from $35-100 and are available by at www.classicstage.org/choose-seats/?eid=EdgeoftheWorld2024.

15) A Magical Milestone at Playland for One of the Longest Running Rides, as Legendary Dragon Coaster Celebrates 95 Years of Breathtaking Thrills and Chills

It’s the Year of the Dragon and Playland is hosting a ‘beast of a bash’ this month as one of the nation’s most historic amusement parks and waterfront destinations prepares for two weekends of fun to commemorate the iconic Dragon Coaster’s 95th birthday on Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21. Leading up to the birthday weekend, from July 12 to 14 and on Friday, July 19, Playland will also feature a dragon crafts station, where young visitors can tap into their creative side and decorate individual art pieces that will be part of a large dragon’s body, complete with a 3D head, wings, tail and carried on poles – which will ultimately be part of Playland’s celebratory Dragon Parade on July 20 and 21.

Standing at 80 feet high with approximately 3,400 feet of track, the Dragon Coaster originally opened in 1929 and continues to thrill riders of all ages to this day. It is the only coaster designed by Frederick A. Church that remains in operation on the east coast. The wooden ride is also one of 48 coasters around the world recognized by the American Coaster Enthusiasts as an ACE Roller Coaster Landmark, a designation reserved for rides of historic significance.

The fire-breathing celebrations will feature a Dragon Parade at 4 pm on Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21, when entertainers on stilts and unicycles will lead kids in a dragon-shaped procession around the park while waving around commemorative dragon streamers. Throughout the day, face painters and airbrush tattoo artists will be available for dragon-themed face and body art, as well as special Kiddyland performances featuring Peter Michael Martin and performing aerialists.

Other festivities include Playland’s Summer Sounds Concert Series, presented by The Capitol Theatre, a stunning fireworks display on Friday and Saturday, relay races, boat races and so much more. In addition, the #PlaylandArt Dragon Contest winner, where Dragon Coaster fans were encouraged to create their own creative impressions of the ride earlier this year, will be announced.

“The Dragon Coaster has been such a staple for generations of families, creating 95 years of thrilling memories that we wanted to recognize and celebrate this summer,” said Evonne Keeler, CEO of Playland. “The Dragon Coaster is such an iconic part of Playland’s vibrant history as we continue to enhance the park as a thriving waterfront destination, and we are excited to embrace that history with Playland’s dragon-themed festivities that will delight guests of all ages all weekend long.”

For the Saturday celebrations on July 20, roundtrip ferry service will also be available from East 34th Street in Manhattan with a stop at 90th Street and Ferry Point Park in the Bronx. More information and the full ferry schedule can be found here.
