Jonah at first seems to be a story about a boy in the throes of a deep crush on a girl named Ana who lives in a boarding school nearby. However, all is not what it appears, and this is much more Ana's story than Jonah's. If you are hoping for a lighthearted love story, you will not find it in this show. Rather, it is very much the story of the aftermath of trauma. Thus, it may be triggering for some people. Its depictions of among other things self-harm, suicide, and physical abuse as well as sexual intimacy also make it inappropriate for children. However, if you can get past that, it is a well-acted, well-written, deeply affecting play.
