Welcome to the Wish Big Giveaway Hop
hosted by Mama the Fox
Postcards may often seem like light little happy missives
but often there can be a much deeper meaning in their
message. Sometimes even the postcard itself can be
a message and tell you something meaningful about the
time and place it was sent.
Emma's Postcard Album is a book about postcards. It offers a unique look at Black life in the early part of the twentieth century through an examination of a collection of postcards received by Emma Crawford, a young black woman living in Pennsylvania and working as a domestic servant. Now, during Black History Month, it is the perfect time to delve into this fascinating book. For more, see our previous post Tips for Tuesday - Books: Emma's Postcard Album.
