Manahatta is a hard-hitting drama about an indigenous woman who returns to her ancestral homeland of Manahatta hoping to make it in the high-stakes world of the financial industry while at the same time, her relatives back in Oklahoma are about to lose their home once again. Her present-day story is intercut with the story of her ancestors' heartbreaking expulsion from their land. The show is extremely well-written and maintains an intense grip on your attention throughout. Although the show is one hour and forty minutes, long for a show without an intermission, it does not feel long at all. It is an extremely thoughtful show that really makes you contemplate not only how much is too much, but about the wrongs that were perpetuated and continue to be perpetuated against the indigenous people of this country.
