Josh Mostel and Richard Masur join the cast of Two Jews, Walking on Friday October 28, 2022. 92nd Street Y, New York Harkness Dance Center’s 2022/23 Mainstage Series continues with Yuriko, A Celebration of Life, paying tribute to the trailblazing dancer, choreographer and performing artist Yuriko Kikuchi, in a free event on Thursday, October 27 at 7:30 pm. Yuriko, an influential force at the Martha Graham Dance Company for more than 50 years – including creating the Martha Graham Ensemble in 1983, now Graham 2 – headlined her first solo choreographic concert on the Kaufmann Concert Hall stage at the 92nd Street Y in 1949, where her company later returned to perform almost every year between 1964 and 1971. She made Broadway history by originating the role of Eliza in Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King and I and broke barriers not only performing the role on stage and in a major motion picture, but as director for a long-running revival of the musical. Yuriko passed on March 8, 2022 at the age of 102.
Yuriko, A Celebration of Life includes historic performance footage from her time with Martha Graham Dance Company; childhood and family photos including her time in internment camps; personal stories from collaborators, students and artists she inspired; and performances from Martha Graham dancers.

The American Classical Orchestra (ACO), New York City’s leading period instrument orchestra, performs Mozart’s Requiem with the ACO Chorus, along with the world premiere of ACO Artistic Director and Founder Thomas Crawford's orchestral work, Elegy. Titled Remember, this second concert of ACO's 38th season takes place at Alice Tully Hall on Friday, October 28, at 8 PM. Originally slated for February 2021, the concert pays tribute to lives lost during the pandemic.
The soloists for the Requiem, considered to be Mozart’s choral masterpiece, are Korean-Chinese soprano Yulan Piao, first prize-winner in the Vienna Summer Music Festival Competition; contralto Heather Petrie, founding member of the acclaimed Etherea Vocal Ensemble; tenor Lawrence Jones, praised by Opera News for his “clean, ringing tenor”; and baritone Joseph Charles Beutel, who originated the role of the British Major in the Pulitzer Prize-winning opera Silent Night by Kevin Puts.

Broadway Podcast Network Co-Founders Dori Berinstein and Alan Seales announced today the launch of the network’s new series, “Rolling Calls.” Created by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen, “Rolling Calls” is a fictional audio comedy about 23-year-old Walt Mendez, played by newcomer Dan Rosales, who gets a survival job at a struggling low level NYC talent agency. On his first day of work, his rage-aholic boss, played by Tony Award winner Julie Halston, has a heart attack, leaving him alone, clueless and in charge. His shady ex-boyfriend conveniently resurfaces, coming on strong and making the job suddenly much more attractive.
The six-episode story is heard through his headset at the office, making the listener a fly on the wall as Walt tries to conquer show business…if it doesn’t kill him first. The long running Off-Broadway whodunit PERFECT CRIME, today announced the long running Off-Broadway show’s fourth annual terrifying and fascinating Halloween season lobby exhibit PERFECT CRIME: THE EXHIBIT. This year’s theme “Have You Seen This Woman: 2022’s Killers Among Us” will run now through November 4th within the 4th floor lobby of The Theater Center, located at 1627 Broadway in Manhattan, where Perfect Crime plays. The exhibit is free, open to the general public during box office lobby hours 10AM to 8PM, Monday – Friday.
These aren’t stories of the past. These are women all across America who very recently have been pushed to the limit and and have been accused or convicted of killing their husbands in cold blood. Did their men have it coming? And where are some of these accused killers right now? Look around. They could be closer than you think.
“Have You Seen This Woman: 2022’s Killers Among Us” spotlights the horrific acts of various women very recently accused of killing their husbands: Nancy Crampton Brophy, DanaK. Colbert, Dawn Renee Wynn (who in September was released on bond after being accused of shooting her husband dead, but almost immediately disappeared and is still at large), Ashley Benefield, Evelyn Henderson (who told investigators her 84 year old husband died after setting himself on fire – and who was found with fly larvae in his nose), Susan A. Behny (whose husband was found in his bed with a gunshot wound to the head), SHantal Wagner (A woman accused of killing her husband, a well-known Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputy, has been acquitted by a jury and released from jail). The exhibit features several other truly disturbing cases that invoke goosebumps.
In addition to the exhibit, there will also be a photo area where visitors will be able to pretend kill the man they love with various weapons of choice – most deriving from the gruesome stories featured within the exhibit. Men, there will be chalk outlines for you to lie down in and contemplate what you may be doing wrong – before it’s too late!

ACT & SIP NYC is a lighthearted drinking party mashed-up with the experience of acting on stage right on a stage on Broadway. It has inspired many to step outside their comfort zone and helps people feel more comfortable with each other and with speaking or performing for others.
Every Saturday from 5 PM – 6:30, actors practice and then perform scripts from popular tv shows (Friends, The Office, Grey’s Anatomy) and films (When Harry Met Sally, Bridesmaids, Body Heat, Thelma and Louise) with instructor Catherine Russell offering tips along the way. Ice Theatre of New York® (ITNY) presents the Fall Frolic on October 27, 2022 at 7pm at the Sky Rink, Chelsea Piers. The event will honor Mexican Olympian skater Donovan Carrillo and his coach Gregorio Núñez with the Will Sears Award, which is presented each year to a skater who has shown exceptional daring and persistence in pursuit of their passion. The event will also feature an “unplugged” performance by the ITNY Ensemble and guest artists, followed by cocktails and a buffet dinner at The Water Hazard. Proceeds from the fundraising dinner will support ITNY rehearsals, outreach, and the junior ensemble.
Tickets are $21.50 for the performance only and $100-$1,000 for both the performance and dinner, and are available at icetheatre.org/fall-frolic.

MasterVoices begins its 2022-23 season on October 25 at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center with Ted Sperling leading a staged performance of Bizet’s Carmen in its original Opéra Comique version, with dialogue rather than recitative, sung in an English translation by legendary Broadway lyricist Sheldon Harnick. The MasterVoices performance, suspended in March 2020 due to the pandemic, will mark the New York premiere of Harnick’s full translation. His translation of Carmen was commissioned and premiered by the Houston Grand Opera in 1981 and served as the English text for Peter Brook’s ingenious 90-minute La tragédie de Carmen which was performed at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in New York in 1984.
Joining the 120–member MasterVoices chorus and Orchestra of St. Luke’s is mezzo soprano Ginger Costa-Jackson, “a singer, stylist and actress of tremendous gifts” (Opera Today), as Carmen. Terrence Chin-Loy, who possesses “a beautiful lyric tenor voice,” (Opera News) is Don José. MasterVoices favorite, rising soprano Mikaela Bennett, who was featured in the chorus’ A Joyful Noise concert last December at Carnegie Hall, sings the role of Micaëla; and baritone John Brancy, featured in MasterVoices’ theatrical song cycle Myths and Hymns, which is nominated for a 2022 New York Emmy Award, appears as Escamillo. Sammi Cannold, recently recognized in Forbes Magazine’s “30 Under 30 in Hollywood & Entertainment,” directs, and the choreographer is Gustavo Zajac, who staged the dances for MasterVoices’ 2015 The Pirates of Penzance.

After 15 years, Seth Bisen-Hersh will produce, emcee and accompany his 700th weekly showcase at renowned midtown cabaret venue Don’t Tell Mama on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 at 7PM. To celebrate, Bisen-Hersh will be joined by 20 showcase alumni singing songs from his catalog. The concert will feature songs from off-Broadway's "Love Quirks", as well as songs from other projects including his new Broadway-aimed musical "The Secret Adversary” and “Malka", an upcoming short film based on his grandmother’s Holocaust experience.

As part of its ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), The Shubert Organization has established the Artistic Circle, an initiative to bring more BIPOC producers into the commercial American theatre landscape.
For 2023, the program will provide 3 BIPOC producers in the early-to-mid-stages of their careers with the following support:
- financial assistance for their project
- space for readings and workshops
- office space in the Theatre District
- consultation sessions with a general manager
- roundtables and networking events
- career and project mentorship
- access to theatre tickets and industry events
Applicants must have a project that is geared toward the commercial arena (Broadway and Off-Broadway). This project must already be in process with a clear development plan and timeline. BIPOC producers interested in being considered should send the following materials to ArtisticCircle@shubertorg.com by November 14, 2022:
- a resume and short description of personal philosophy and goals
- a description of the project, its development history and plans for the future
- a letter of recommendation from a theatre professional
The new Artistic Circle members will be announced in early January.
