I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday- Untapped New York's Remnants of the World's Fair Tour

We were given a complimentary Remnants of the World's Fair Tour for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Untapped New York's Remnants of the World's Fair Tour

Where: World's Fairgrounds
Flushing Meadows- Corona Park Queens, NY

Who: All ages

Me - The Remnant's of the World's Tour was fun. I learned a lot. It was really interesting. It made me wish I could have gone to a World's Fair. They seem really cool and fun.

There are more things left from the World's Fair than I realized like statues, pictures on the pavement, and the Unisphere which is like a giant globe. Our tour guide showed us a lot of pictures of items and locations that don't exist anymore. That was very helpful.

The area where the World's Fair took place was bigger than I thought. Also, I didn't know that they were actually two World's Fairs that took place in the same location. It's crazy that there are things like the It's A Small World ride at Disneyland that were orginally at the World's Fair first. I wish I could have seen some of that. I'm glad I at least got the opportunity to learn about it all through this unique tour. I would highly recommend it.

Mom - Many people are aware that the 1964 World's Fair took place in New York. However, less people know that the 1939 World's Fair took place there as well. Both fairs took place in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Queens in an area that is now mostly a big park.

Of course, most of what existed during the World's Fair is long gone, A few things have moved on to other places like the It's A Small World boat ride that has been a part of Disneyland in California for years and the Skyride at Great Adventure in New Jersey which both first appeared at the World's Fair. Yet, you can still see a surprising number of reminders of the fair if you know where to look.

Untapped Tours knows where to look, and on one of their remnants of The World's Fair Tours, they do a great job of recreating that time for you. Not only will you learn about things that are obviously left over from the fairs like the Unisphere and a couple of other large structures, but you will also learn about things that you never even knew were related to the fairs like several sculptures, the Queen's Museum, and the Queen's Theatre. They also have plenty of pictures on hand to show so that you don't have to imagine what it was like back then you can actually see it. The tour even includes a visit to the Queen's Museum. We will talk more about that in a future post. On the whole, Untapped Tour's Remnants of The World's Fair Tour is one of the most unique and interesting tours you can go on. It will make you wish we still had World's Fairs now.

And that's our view. Untapped Tours next Remnants of the World's Fair Tour is currently scheduled for this Saturday.
