I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - Her Portmanteau

We were given complimentary tickets to Her Portmanteau for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Her Portmanteau

Where: George Street Playhouse
              NBPAC
             11 Livingston Ave.
              New Brunswick, NJ

Who: Recommended for Ages 14 and Up

When: Through October 30, 2022

Her Portmanteau is a touching family drama about a mother and her two daughters who were raised on different continents. Adiaha was raised by their mother in America while her older sister, Iniabasi was raised by her father in Nigeria. When Iniabasi comes to America misunderstandings and resentments come to a head.  This is a really well-written play.  The author does a really great job of making you understand each of these characters and where they are coming from. Therefore, you don't really favor one over another but you sympathize with all of them. The acting is terrific. Shannon Harris as the daughter that got left behind and Mattilyn Rochester Kravitz as the guilt-ridden mother are both equally heart-breaking. Jennean Farmer does a terrific job as the daughter caught in the middle as well.  It is just a hauntingly beautiful play.

And that's our view.  For more about Her Portmanteau or to purchase tickets, visit georgestreetplayhouse.org.
