Where: Museum at FIT
7th Ave. & W. 27th St.
New York, NY
Who: Tweens and Up
When: Through November 28, 2021
The rose is the most popular flower in the world, and the latest exhibition at the Museum at FIT is devoted to this beloved blossom. The exhibit includes numerous dresses as well as some other articles of clothing by a variety of well-known designers and a few unknown designers. There are dresses that look like flowers, dresses adorned by flowers, dresses painted with flowers, and more. The exhibit is arranged by color and even includes black roses which is not actually a color of rose that exists in nature.
There is a whole large display of flowered hats many of which have never been exhibited before. There is also a small display of pocketbooks, shoes, and other items. Additionally, there is an array of photographs showing how the rose has been used in fashion photography.
The Museum at FIT is now open Wednesday through Friday 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. There is no entrance fee required. It is not a good place to take very young children who would not be able to resist the urge to run around and touch things as most of the items on display are not behind glass or other barriers.
And that's our view. For information about the Ravishing the Rose in Fashion exhibit at the Museum at FIT visit, www.fitnyc.edu/museum/exhibitions/ravishing-the-rose-in-fashion. For more information about the museum in general, visit www.fitnyc.edu/museum
Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
