Welcome to the In All Things Give Thanks Giveaway Hop
Hosted by Mama the Fox
If you have a home and enough food to eat, these are things to be grateful for. In fact, these are things that most people take for granted but not everyone has. In the novel, In the Hole by Ben Levin, due to an unfortunate turn of events, the Kimball family suddenly finds themselves homeless. Although he is only a kid himself, young David is determined to help maintain as much normalcy for his little sister as possible and help his parents in every way he can to get them out of their terrible situation and back into a home of their own. This book shine an important light on the issue of homelessness and how quickly a person can go from having a home to being homeless. Even though the book can be dark and depressing at times, it is ultimately uplifting because of the inspiring pluck and determination of its young hero and the community of caring people that surround him and help himt along his journey. In fact, the existence of the book itself is an inspiration as it was written by an autistic teenager. For more about this book, see our previous post Tips for Tuesday - Books: In the Hole.
