As we wait for Broadway to fully reopen with many shows now scheduled to reopen as early as September, this is the fourteenth post in our series, Great Reasons to See... focusing on different shows returning to Broadway or coming to Broadway soon. Although we have not yet had the opportunity to see Jagged Little Pill below are some great reasons to see the show based on what we know about it.
1) It is a completely original story.
2) It is based around the songs of Alanis Morrisette and the soundtrack is full of her songs mostly from her hugely popular Jagged Little Pill album but a few of the songs are from some of her other albums.
3) The show includes two completely original Alanis Morrisette songs written just for the show.
4) It has been nominated for and/or won numerous 2020 theatrical awards including 15 Tony Award nominations.
5) The book of the musical was written by the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Juno, Cody Diablo.
6) It has a very diverse cast of characters.
7) It deals with some very topical and timely issue including drug addiction, gender identity, and sexual assault.
And that's our view. Jagged Little Pill returns to Broadway on October 21, 2021. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit jaggedlittlepill.com.
