I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - Eyes On New York

We were given complimentary tickets to Eyes on New York for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed are our own.

What: Eyes on New York

Where: Empire Outlet
             55B Richmond Terrace
             Staten Island

Who: All ages

When: September 6, 2021

Me - Eyes on New York was fun.  It was the only experience by The Ride that doesn't take place on a moving vehicle. It is more of a show. It is a lot like a circus. There is a lady who did tricks in the air while hanging from this curtain-like material. There was a guy who did tricks with a hula hoop. There was a lot of dancing. There was a singer. She had a nice voice. There were a bunch of other acts too.

The show wasn't very long.  It definitely wasn't as long as a typical circus. It went by quite fast.

There wasn't quite as much variety as in a typical circus. Also, my favorite part of the Circus is the animal acts, and this show only had a guy dressed up like a giant rat and no real animals. However, overall the show was entertaining, and the performers were talented.

Mom - Eyes on New York is the latest offering from the people behind The Ride. It is completely unlike any of their previous entertainment offerings because it takes place in a stationary venue rather than in a bus or other moving vehicle. Most of the available activities offered by The Ride are very informative and you can learn a lot about New York City and its history while participating. Eyes on New York, however, doesn't attempt to teach anything. It's just pure fun.

The show is like a mini circus. It consists of a group of performers performing different acts. There are tricks with hoops both in the air and on the ground, tricks with ropes, a contortionist,  and more. There are lots of dancers, there's a  mime, there's a young singer and more. The singer has a  really beautiful voice, and her song about the New York subway lines is especially fun. That song is the closest this show comes to actually teaching something.

The whole show is loosely tied together by the story of a lost mime. However, it is very vague and not very interesting. What makes the show interesting are the performances and seeing these talented performers show off their amazing skills.

The show is suitable for anyone of any age even the youngest of children. None of the acts is that long and the whole show is only about an hour. Accordingly, it's a great activity for the whole family to enjoy together.

And that's our view. For more about Eyes on New York or to buy a ticket, visit experiencetheride.com.

Tune in Sunday for this week's Sunday Scoop.
