Mom's view: If you want to research dance the New York Library is the place to do it. The New York Library's Performing Arts branch has arguably the world's best dance archives. This extensive collection goes as far back as 1943 and represents all different kinds of dances. Originally called simply Dance Collection in 1999 it was renamed the Jerome Robbins Dance Division for the famous choreographer. Now, in honor of the 75th anniversary, there is a special exhibit of items from the collection at the New York Library of the Performing Arts. This extensive exhibit consists of a wide variety of artifacts including posters, costumes and more. There is even one of prima ballerina, Anna Pavlova's ballet shoes and a Nijinsky doll. However, what makes this exhibit so great is that not only can you go and see these objects there are numerous audio and video clips throughout the exhibit as well where you learn about some of the history of dance from the people who lived it or watch the actual dances being performed. If you are a big dance fan, you won't want to miss it!
And that's Mom's view. Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
